fwiw I just tried the game (Portal 2) in steam and it works fine in the preference setup, changing resolutions works in thegame, but that doesn't get applied to XRandr (ie the viewport setting remains the same), to apply the chnage, I had to restart the game… weird

if portal2 has wierd window positon when it should be fullscreen, try using a newer libsdl2, there were bugs with its fullscreen code paths that were fixed not too long ago

I tried to add traces in Xwyland to see what exactly is going on,

I can se the initial viewport enabled, but then later on, changing the resolution in-game would not trigger even that code, I found that weird

so to me, at least in my reproducer, this is something wrong with the game or wine or whatever in the sthe stack but not Xwayland - that again, is on my reproducer here, doesnt mean it's the same everywhere
