jadahl: emersion: can you clarify whether popups were reactive before the introduction of xdg_positioner.set_reactive and are they not reactive by default in v3+? and why is xdg_positioner.set_reactive needed? the client doesn't know its position in the global screen coordinates so it can't reposition itself without getting outside the workarea

It can work that way, or it can run a special Xorg server called Xwayland so you can still use X11 applications from your Wayland session.
