<derzahl> hm, i wonder if my disk is frying on the c630. Just now it would only boot a single line saying "Welcome to GRUB", let it sit about 5 minutes and nothing else came up. Held in the power switch to power off and repeated. Same thing for half a dozen times.
<derzahl> after about 10 minutes later it booted normally again...but odd behavior to say the least
<derzahl> ?
<derzahl> my previous configs arent doing very well with 5.15
<steev> i use the distro_defconfig
<derzahl> ok
<derzahl> ill try it
<derzahl> do you add custom CFLAGS? like march, mtune, mcpu?
<steev> no
<steev> time make ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE="ccache aarch64-linux-gnu-" LOCALVERSION= -j$(nproc) bindeb-pkg
<steev> that's the exact command i use every time, after distro_defconfig target

<derzahl> steev: you lost me...
<derzahl> do you always compile on a non-arm64 system?
<derzahl> nevermind...
<derzahl> haha
<derzahl> my brain is getting slow tonight
<derzahl> but i think debian sets some CFLAGS when you do a bindeb-pkg
<derzahl> not sure though
<derzahl> anyway, ive got 5.15 running good. but its weird
<derzahl> i get no prompt for decrypt password. whether i use straight console or whether I try to use plymouth and 'quiet splash'
<derzahl> but if i blind type the pw it boots either way
<steev> are you putting the gpu firmware into your initramfs?

<derzahl> steev: just that one? qcdxkmsuc850.mbn?
<derzahl> doesnt seem to make a difference if I include that
<derzahl> should drm and msm be enough for the modules in initrd?
<steev> should be, yeah. but i have no idea
<steev> i'll just blame your weird zfs fetish
