<TellowKrinkle[m]> For someone who is trying to follow along and thinks they may have understood it, does this make sense for the calculation of how those values make for an output of fout?... (full message at https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/ApioZCAfWbbGymMZlfKBbhYJ)

<sven> marcan: kettenis: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-usb/96f0536e-6a45-4a44-85a7-1ce530a891cc@www.fastmail.com/T/#mde34c2b270cc36324c272a930ab017b4a69c3169 sounds like it's time to decide on the compatible for apple's dwc3 controller. any opinions on "apple,t8103-dwc3", "apple,dwc3", "snps,dwc3" vs. "apple,t8103-dwc3", snps,dwc3"?
<sven> fwiw, apple uses "usb-drd,t8103" for the M1 and "usb-drd,t6000", "usb-drd,t8103" for the M1 Pro/Max
<kettenis> I'd probably leave out "apple,dwc3" in this case
<kettenis> we'd still match on the snps,dwc3 on new hardware and get a somewhat functional system
<kettenis> and hopefully they'll fix the reset issue properly in some future SoC
<sven> true. with that "snps,dwc3" we don't really need the "apple,dwc3" fallback
<sven> and if the reset issue is still present on t6000 we can also just do "apple,t6000-dwc3", "apple,t8103-dwc", "snps,dwc3"
<kettenis> yup
<kettenis> and if it is fixed, we'd leave out the "apple,t8103-dwc"
<sven> sounds good to me
<kettenis> on the laptop/keyboard front, the way apple does multitouch is a bit weird
jacoxon has joined #asahi-dev
<kettenis> but it is pretty much how the linux hid-magicmouse driver handles the magic trackpad
<sven> oh, those weird keyboard message are just hid?
<kettenis> keyboard is standard hid
<kettenis> simple mouse mode for the touchpad is also standard hid
<kettenis> seems the person who wrote drivers/input/keyboard/applespi.c simply didn't realize
<sven> so i guess we "just" need to hook this all up to the common hid subsystem instead
<j_ey> sven: it seems there already is an apple-hid driver too
<sven> ohh... looks like the mailbox driver will also be in linux-next next time the tree is built
<sven> j_ey: hah! even better
<kettenis> that is the hid descriptor for the magic trackpad 2 apparently
<sven> haha, posting that question on the official apple forum :D
<kettenis> the hid on the macbook pro is almost identiacl
<kettenis> sven: that wasn't me ;)
<kettenis> that one has
<kettenis> Report Count (1387) 96 6B 05
<kettenis> whereas the m1 macbook pro has
<kettenis> Report Count (1751) 96 D7 06
<kettenis> that bit could actually be some weird way apple encodes the model
