<sven> hrm, so all thunderbolt devices end up in the same iommu group because not even the root ports seem to support PCIe ACS. if I'm reading the usb4 spec correctly they should support that though :/
maor26 has joined #asahi-dev
<sven> ah.. and a few sentences later the spec talks about an "implementation-specific mechanism that is more appropriate for the architecture of the Host"

<sven> alright, figured out how dpin0/1 work. they have a single “dptx enable” bit and a slightly cumbersome way to get HPD changes
<sven> looks like there are even more magic pokes inside atcphy required to make DP tunneling work which is weird

<jannau> sigh, do I want to send the m2 devicetrees and 15 mostly trivial dt-binding changes to 36 recipients?
<ChaosPrincess> more recipients - more chances that someone will respond instead of your patches ending up in the void :P
<sven> uh. that sounds a bit too many
<sven> Oh… maintainers for N different subsystems?
<sven> maybe just send patch 1 to the corresponding maintainers and don’t include them for the rest?
hightower2 has joined #asahi-dev
<jannau> yes, maintainers and mailing lists for N subsystems
<sven> did you already check if Bluetooth just works btw.?
<sven> I’d only send each individual patch to the relevant maintainers fwiw
<jannau> no, bt and wifi will at least need the new pci device ids added
<sven> ah, then bt probably also needs these memory offers to be mapped into the BAR extracted as well
<sven> jannau: oh, and what’s your latest DCP branch? I wanna try to bring the DP tunnel up this weekend
<jannau> ack, just trying to find a way to limit the email recipients per patch automatically
<sven> isn’t review on mailing lists fun? :p
<jannau> sven: I don't have much dcp changes outside of asahi-wip. rebased dp-altmode changes are in https://github.com/jannau/linux/tree/asahi-6.2-rc3-7_dp-altmode-wip (works only once due to missing runtime pm support for for dptx-port)
<sven> sounds good, thanks
<sven> once is good enough for now ;)
<sven> mostly just want to have a good understanding how that part interacts with the rest before I start cleaning up the usb4 and pcie changes
zalyx has quit [Quit: later alligator]
<jannau> runtime pm shouldn't be hard to implement. I expect it's enough to shut the endpoint down and restart it at convenient places from dcp's suspend/resume functions
zalyx has joined #asahi-dev
<jannau> I got just distracted by 13.2 / m2 mini support
<sven> tsk tsk ;)
<sven> distraction is how I ended up with this usb4 mess :P
<sven> I don't even remember how that all started but I do remember that I just wanted to figure out how $something worked

<t> why does tipd require 2 macs? @j`ey @sven
<jannau> t: for testing that the changes have the desired effect. the most interesting features are routing serial port to the SBU pins locally and remotely and resetting a connected mac
