i suspect kde and firefox already have some sort of util clamping support built in, because enabling clamping on CFS tasks brings desktop battery life up to ~8 hrs just doing random web browsing type activities

sven: because otherwise they lose the stuff m1n1 sets up IIRC
<marcan>
we need save/restore or to actually move it to linux for that

hm, i wonder if that’s just the actual pcie phy that breaks then or if something subtle that I just haven’t noticed yet also breaks for the usb4-pcie
beeblebrox has joined #asahi-dev
<marcan>
sven: I think it's just the phy calibration/fuses, I remember it breaking *sometimes*. if you are bringing everything up from Linux for usb4-pcie, then it's probably fine.
<marcan>
apcie just has this weird split where m1n1 sets some things up that get lost
<sven>
I kinda wanna do that for apciec as well because I realized yesterday how that’s actually possible
<sven>
it seems to work right now but then I found that always-on thing for the normal pcie
<sven>
it’s really just “apply N tunables” inside m1n1
<sven>
and I think those survive a disable power domain
<sven>
*disabled

urgh.. so I can restart acio now but that also requires disabling its dart :(

so, uh, it looks acio reset literally is “power down this power domain and then power it up again while atcphy is in reset”. normal pd reset doesn’t seem to work :/
