seems like the issue is in fact plasma not handling BT.2020 properly

marcan: using your cpuidle driver, I get some pretty bad lockups (the machine freezes for about 10 seconds). this is specially visible at boot and shutdown times. haven't had a chance to work out which state trips the behaviour yet, but I suspect the cluster shutdown to be slow to wake-up on IPIs...

this is the only machine I had this on (the M1 mini only runs pure upstream, the studio is stuck on some ancient kernel). I should try and enable it on the M2 MBA to see.

I think apple_cpu_deep_wfi() should only be called with interrupts disabled; is that guaranteed?

otherwise the CPU might be interrupted and if some other code executes a WFI instruction the CPU will lose state

jannau: mat.unk_u32 is a location index where the CTM gets written to. changing it results in IOMFB saying it cant write to that location
