I have a bunch of questions in regards to "developing" an icon theme (more like tweaking an existing (cloned) one).

For example: do I have to supply all those dimensions? I mean all those: 8x8 16x16 22x22 24x24 32x32 48x48 64x64 96x96 256x256 512x512 scalable-up-to-32 scalable? What happens if I only supply let's say: "scalable" or "512x512"?

Is there some sort of precedence for those directories? If yes, how it is controlled?

I had success with: "application-zip" and "application-x-7z-compressed" but for some reason these do not work: "application-gzip" "application-x-rar" (I placed the respective .png files in the 256x256/mimetypes directory of "my theme"). How do I investigate?

Ok that's interesting I had my theme placed here: ~/.local/share/icons/foo and "xfce4-appearance-settings" was showing it to as an Icon selection
