DavidHeidelberg: what do you mean ump the ci-template images? they get autogenerated for each sha, no? So you just update in the target project and that should do the trick?

Is sounds like minimal forking (clone only default branch) could appear in Gitlab upstream soon if not already. :-)

<bentiss>
done. Welcome to gitlab 16.5.1

<mairacanal>
is it possible to add a second e-mail to my fd.o account? i would like to push to drm-misc with two different e-mails
i509vcb has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]

mairacanal: i think you can push with your existing SSH key commits with any email address?
<emersion>
or do you want to add another SSH key?
<mairacanal>
emersion: indeed, i can push patches with any e-mail
<mairacanal>
thanks!
<emersion>
np
<emersion>
FWIW, this is what happens when you review a patch from another person, and they don't have push access so you need to push it yourself

<JoshuaAshton_>
Every time I want to edit my comments on FreeDesktop gitlab I get: "Your comment could not be updated because your comment has been recognized as spam. please, change the content to proceed.."
<JoshuaAshton_>
It's only on edits, but it's all the time
<emersion>
you can try adding "asdf" at the end maybe?
<karolherbst>
yeah, we honestly have to fix the spam protection thing
<karolherbst>
multiple people approached me on that matter _today_ alone
<JoshuaAshton_>
I am also a "Reporter" on this repo
<JoshuaAshton_>
so
<JoshuaAshton_>
/shrug
<karolherbst>
it happens to everybody
<karolherbst>
but yeah...
<karolherbst>
can't we just disable spam protection for accounts with specific roles or something?
<karolherbst>
or well.. non plain users?
<karolherbst>
can we make it less aggressive? Can we do anything about it?
<karolherbst>
at this point the pain it causes heavily outweighs the benefit of spam protection
<emersion>
no idea, if you find info please tell
<karolherbst>
I'd even lean towards to disable it completely until we have more insights on how to make it better in the future
<karolherbst>
bentiss, daniels: can we just disable the spam protection? From what I can tell it's mostly causing harm with almost no benefits. And a lot of people are annoyed by that. Which is entirely understandable. If there are good ways of improving it we should try that out (and I'd even be willing to make that change), but at this point I'd say "doing nothing" is worse than "disabling it"
<daniels>
karolherbst: I can flip the switch, strictly speaking, but I'm not going to since I'm not the one who it'll affect, so it's not my decision to make
<karolherbst>
well.. it currently effects almost everybody wanting to comment
<karolherbst>
but
<karolherbst>
it would also be good to know how much spam it rightfully detects
<karolherbst>
if it's "once in a month" I'd say: whatever, because multiple users running into spam detection problems each day isn't worht it
<karolherbst>
but yeah...
<karolherbst>
we all can wait on more input here
<karolherbst>
anyway
<karolherbst>
daniels: whose decision is it to make then?
<daniels>
karolherbst: bentiss and whot are the ones who actually deal with spam etc
<karolherbst>
okay
<karolherbst>
then let's for their input
<daniels>
(I don't do admin really; I only do some CI and Mesa stuff, and enough firefighting to keep the lights on when Ben wants to actually go on holiday)
<karolherbst>
ohh, fair

FWIW, I don't remember ever hitting the spam protection; granted, I use the comment editing feature only rarely and mostly for minor edits, but "it currently effects almost everybody wanting to comment" seems like it might be selection bias

MrCooper: maybe it's not "almost everybody" but I have reasons to believe it affects a significant amount of people
<karolherbst>
but it also affected me a couple of times, so I might be biased
<karolherbst>
but I also talked with 3 others being affected in the last 24 hours
<karolherbst>
sooo...

I hit the spam filters when I'm making the same pull request repeatedly across the various Xorg repos, even though I'm an owner of the Xorg group - have to change the text slightly in later MR's or stop including URL's (even ones pointing to gitlab.fd.o CI job logs)

<whot>
the gitlab SpamLog is almost exclusively false positives and has been for a while now but it's also extremely UX unfriendly so I rarely ever click past the first page (which has about 20 entries so it's usually just the last few hours). I do check most days at least once
<whot>
usually submitting things as ham gets things better for that user for a while, not sure how long. but the gitlab UI for this sucks, badly, it's almost as bad as the abuse reports and there's no API for either of them
<whot>
problem with turning off spam detection is when it happens, we get *flooded*, with hundreds of messages per hour which are then very tricky to track down because, well, the UX sucks
