Hi, I'm looking to fork a project on the fdo.org GitLab but I can't log into my account because it's been deactivated, presumably for inactivity. Who should I contact regarding this?
<emersion>
vicr123: what is your GitLab username?
<vicr123>
It's vicr123 :)
<emersion>
can we disable the 2FA request when entering admin mode?
<emersion>
i just give up every time i need admin now because it's too much overhead
<emersion>
vicr123: hm, it doesn't seem like your account is disabled to me?
<emersion>
what is the exact error message?

<emersion>
are you sure you're providing the correct credentials?
<vicr123>
Uh, I hope so, let me try again
<emersion>
it would be possible that you're trying to log in with a different email address than the one your registered with
<emersion>
you registered with the @gmail.com one

That would be the case then - looks like I have the wrong details in my password manager somehow
<vicr123>
Okay, I am into my account now - sorry about that hahaha

eric_engestrom: you mean disabling the admin mode?

<mupuf>
emersion: ^
<emersion>
i don't know how it's called
<emersion>
the thingie that requires you to re-login every 5min :P
<emersion>
because right now, i receiev a spam report, then click through, then i'm greeted with the login form and then 2FA
<emersion>
and i'm like "well maybe i'll do this later"
<emersion>
imho it's actually a mis-feature, because i'm really tempted to just disable 2FA
<mupuf>
emersion: I see. The idea behind this feature is that by defaults we don't operate as admins
<emersion>
i think it'd be fine if it was just the password, or just a "beware, from now on it's admin territory"
<mupuf>
but yeah, I know what you mean. I bought a yubikey that I left on my desktop pc so that I could access the admin area super quickly and painlessly
<mupuf>
but this may not fit everyone's workflow
<emersion>
yah, i don't have such a key
<emersion>
i don't really want to put the 2FA secret in my password manager either
<mupuf>
what's your second factor then, just curious
<emersion>
would be kind of cool to have a button to send a 2FA code from my phone directly to my workstation or something
<emersion>
like, a yubikey-behaving android app or something

<mupuf>
Why do I feel there is a NPotM coming?
<emersion>
ahahah
<mupuf>
that being said, having a shared clipboard between your phone and workstation is IMO a must
<mupuf>
kdeconnect FTW

<bentiss>
emersion: FWIW I also have a yubikey and uses it for 2FA, and the yubico authenticator app also works as a flatpak, so under linux
<bentiss>
but for fdo, the yubikey is just used as a fido2 key, so not even the need to copy/paste the 6 digits, just a single press on it
<bentiss>
and FWIW, having the yubikey storing the TOTP challenges has the interesting fact to *not* put them on the phone, meaning that if is goes dead, I can just grab a new one, and still have all the challenges

FWIW, I'm attempting to disable global snippets (not per project snippets), so I might have the config wrong for a short time...
<bentiss>
the reational is that we only have a couple of new snippets per week, and they could probably not be a snippet (or be attached to a project), but when we get a spam comment on them, it's nearly impossible to remove without digging into gitlab's internal console

<DavidHeidelberg>
preferably aligned with x86_64 and aarch64, but there is simple choosing the runner arch, for the 32-bit it's not that straightforward to me

<Consolatis>
or the hacky way, some open source TOTP phone app that can easily be modified (or a custom share target) + some little daemon on the workstation listening on a tcp socket + injecting the code via virtual_keyboard protocol
<Consolatis>
whoops, was scrolled up. that was in reference to <emersion> like, a yubikey-behaving android app or something
<emersion>
would be cooler to have a FIDO2 impl
