<eric_engestrom>
bentiss: iirc a few weeks ago you were experimenting with pinning shared runners to specific cpus to prevent one job from being able to eat the resources of the others, making run times (more) stable; did that get deployed everywhere?
<eric_engestrom>
(I'm mostly interested in knowing whether I can now rely on build jobs run times being stable or if we still need to account for "some other job might be making this job slow so it needs to allow for very long run times")
<daniels>
yeah it’s everywhere now
<daniels>
memory is iirc not bounded so that could still make for noisy neighbours, as could I/O, but CPU is strictly bound

<eric_engestrom>
awesome, thanks!
<eric_engestrom>
for build jobs i/o is not an issue, but memory might be
<eric_engestrom>
"noisy neighbours" is a nice way to put it btw ^^
<daniels>
don’t thank me, thank Ben :)

<daniels>
alatiera: each runner instance has its own cpuset in cgroups
<alatiera>
oh so this is a per runner thing, not per-job
<alatiera>
okay, seen that config key in the past
<alatiera>
or actually
* alatiera
pulls up gitlab docs
<alatiera>
are you registering a runner per fdo_ci_conncurrent/ncpus now to make sure it only uses that cpu cgroup share?
