<gamiee> Hi everyone, please, did anyone tried to set HDMI resolution on Sunxi SoCs via kernel command line ? If yes, how ? Thanks

<jernej> gamiee: one way would be to add "drm.edid_firmware=edid/1920x1080.bin"
<jernej> but that would work only for few standard resolutions
<gamiee> @jernej: hi, that shouldn't be a problem (I use only standard resolutions) . Would also video argument work? Thanks
<jernej> note 1) file is virtual in this case 2) proper kernel config must be enabled, but I don't remember which from top of my head
<jernej> video argument should work, but I never used it
<jernej> another catch is that hdmi audio is disabled with at least my method and most probably with video argument too

<gamiee> hmm, but X server should initialize everything once again, isn't it? (even maybe HDMI audio?)
apritzel_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<gamiee> The thing is, I have weird situation, where H3 is connected to HDMI Switch, on which are two displays connected, 4K Display (via HDMI cable), and another 4K Display, which are connected with some "extender" which supports only 1080p. Thus sometimes happens, that if the extender is initialized in time, when H3 is booting (and have 4K resolution), the extender doesn't sends data and fails, and even after boot when X server set 1080p, the extender

<jernej> gamiee: HDMI audio support is based partially on EDID and if you force resolution (at least with edid firmware), HDMI audio is not present there
<jernej> so no HDMI audio at all...
<jernej> gamiee: I would suggest that you copy edid binary from sysfs once everything is "in time" and using argument I gave you before, load it
<jernej> just set proper path to it
