<Mangy_Dog>
does mainline automatically suport raw i2c capacitive touch pad inputs?
<Mangy_Dog>
or does a specific driver need to be written or installed for each digitiser?
<Mangy_Dog>
i noticed mainline works with digitisers when they go through a i2c to usb adapter
<Mangy_Dog>
but im assuming thats just a mcu playing hid
<DuClare>
If you have the right driver for it.
<DuClare>
And dts or whatever you use to tell the system that there's something on that i2c
<Mangy_Dog>
okays

Mangy_Dog: lots of hardware talks HID directly over I2C. that hardware can take advantage of the generic HID driver and hid-over-i2c binding
<Mangy_Dog>
oh good
<Mangy_Dog>
so it shouldnt be hard to get a capacitive touch digitiser working directly through i2c then
<apritzel>
Mangy_Dog: have you searched for the name of the I2C chip in the Linux tree?
<Mangy_Dog>
nope
<Mangy_Dog>
not too hot on linux dev yet
<Mangy_Dog>
im just concepting a project
<Mangy_Dog>
also dont have any hardware just eyt
<Mangy_Dog>
yet
<apritzel>
Mangy_Dog: well, it's nothing "dev-y" yet, just checking if there is a driver for that I2C chip
<apritzel>
what is the name of the chip? would be as simple as "git grep -i <chipname>", or put the name of the chip together with "Linux" in your search engine
<Mangy_Dog>
no idea
<Mangy_Dog>
i dont have it yet
