<nquest> Hi! I've started supporting allwinner t113 in mainline, based on Samuel's work on D1. Sould I add compatible strings to existing drivers?

<apritzel> nquest: is there any *need* for new compatible strings? I'd reckon that the D1 compatible strings suffice?
<apritzel> nquest: there is an ongoing discussion about how to handle the differing interrupt numbers: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-arm-kernel/CAMuHMdUPm36RsxHdVwspR3NCAR3C507AyB6R65W42N2gXWq0ag@mail.gmail.com/
<apritzel> whatever the outcome, the sun20i-d1.dtsi would be shared

<nquest> exactly what i want to know, thank you!
<apritzel> nquest: or rather *some version* of the current sun20i-d1.dtsi would be shared, minus the CPUs and interrupt controller

<Moe_Icenowy> apritzel: how will the shared DTSI be named?
<Moe_Icenowy> do you have any creative idea? ;-)

<grming> hi to all. I have the lichee pi zero board working with LCD with kernel 5.2.y and u-boot v3s--current downloaded from github. Everything works fine. Now I tried to make ti work with linux 5.15.y wihc brings de sunxi_defconfig (not the lcd_480x800 defconfig)
<grming> I checked the configuratiosn and DTSI and DTS files differences, I compile the 480x800.dtsi and generate de dtb file on kernel 5.5
<grming> 5.15
<grming> but for some reason the lcd init correctly but then it went black.
<grming> on console I got the linux working, through UART console, but the LCD is all black

<apritzel> grming: I don't know about proper "native
<apritzel> ... ways of getting the LCD to work, but you could try simplefb
<apritzel> grming: that's set up by U-Boot, and just gives the kernel a memory area to use as a framebuffer.
<apritzel> the LCD init should be done by U-Boot, and the kernel just keeps using that
<apritzel> you would need CONFIG_VIDEO_DT_SIMPLEFB in U-Boot, at least
