<gamiee> apritzel: hello, I'm trying the thing you suggested me, to use embedded DT in u-boot for the kernel. This is boot.cmd: https://paste.debian.net/1260541/
<gamiee> Although, for some reason, u-boot crashes before running the kernel: https://paste.debian.net/1260542/
<gamiee> Please, any ideas where could be issue? I'm sure that correct DTS is used (CONFIG_DEFAULT_DEVICE_TREE), and also "Model" is using correct string from Device Tree, so u-boot uses the DT.

<gamiee> I had this in my boot script: "setenv fdt_high ffffffff", and because of this it was failing.
<gamiee> So solved, it works perfectly now :)

<apritzel> gamiee: glad I could help :-D
<apritzel> gamiee: but yeah, fdt_high can be a nuisance
<apritzel> gamiee: something is odd there, though, it shouldn't break. What's the SoC again, H3? Need to check how it behaves with fdtcontroladdr
<gamiee> apritzel: Yes, H3 :)

<gamiee> Hmm, I wonder `gpio` command in u-boot doesn't work at all. Input always zero, and `gpio set` returns: `Warning: value of pin is still 0`... sigh :D
<gamiee> It worked just fine on older `u-boot`.... But it seems that it is happening only on some pins
<gamiee> in gpio status, it shows that pin is func , so this is probably why... But why this could be func? In device tree, the pin is configured as power key...
<gamiee> (context, trying to read state of gpio-keys button, but probably because of the definition in DTS, u-boot marks it as func, so I can't read it?)
<gamiee> (ok nope, it works on 2022.07 but not on 2022.04.... huh)
<apritzel> gamiee: why 2022.07 and .04? any reason you are not using mainline, or at least the latest release?
<gamiee> apritzel: 2022.04 was default on buildroot, and 2022.07 is what Armbian uses. I'm now building 2022.10 on my buildroot to see, if it helped.
<gamiee> hmm, on 2022.10 it works just fine, even PL3 being func, but it works! Yay! 😁

<apritzel> gamiee: thanks for the report with the fdt_high, there seems to be indeed something fishy. It crashes, still in U-Boot, on an unaligned load. Will debug that later ...
<gamiee> apritzel: no problem :) happy to hear that you was able to reproduce it.

<DarkNeutrino> So i do have a weird question. I have here an H616 board. U-Boot works and can see the removable SDcard (No eMMC, So Rpi style) but as soon as i boot to linux itself the card is not loaded. Im using the default defconfig and DT is based upon Opi Zero 2. There are few other issues but it works in u-boot. Anyone any ideas as to what could be wrong ? (PS: Im Martin from SoMainline. IRC didnt allow me to put my real name :( )
<DarkNeutrino> One weird quirk i have seen tho on this board is lack of second compatible for the DT. It just specifies the generic h616 compatible and thats it xD So maybe something with that.
