<Namidairo>
I remember seeing a tool to exhaustively search checksums in an image like that but I didn't bookmark it
<Namidairo>
you could probably whip up something fairly quickly to do the same but the header and footer would obviously be the sane place to look for funny looking 4-byte sequences before doing that

nice! Let's port everything Adtran has built >:^)
<hurricos>
believe it or not this was exactly at the same time I originally got into the SNIC10E (CN6640)
<hurricos>
stintel: you may also want to look into radare for simpler browsing. There are better tutorials out there even if it is less helpful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW8Ey5STrPI
<stintel>
you need to solder a TTL header, a MAX3373E, and bridge several traces
<stintel>
I don't possess the skills to pull that off

doesn't scale :)

I can have it done at the local hacker lab, still doesn't scale, I'd have to leave my apartment, reserve someone's time for it, etc

maybe the best thing is to find a similar device with no-so-crippled ttl

PoE-PD, at least dual-core, 1GB RAM, large flash (this is 1MiB NOR for u-boot and ~4GB NAND)
<stintel>
and < 100 USD ;)
<PaulFertser>
stintel: or you can just use a 1.8 V UART adapter
<stintel>
PaulFertser: no, you can not
<stintel>
it still requires a bunch of soldering
<PaulFertser>
stintel: the picture is not really clear but it doesn't look like a bunch to me.
<stintel>
PaulFertser: as I said, I do not posses the soldering skills to pull off that kind of soldering
<PaulFertser>
:(
<stintel>
probably also not the patience
<stintel>
iirc the bridging was the most horrible
<stintel>
and if you omit the MAX3373E you have to more of that

you use our code? cool, nice. NOW GIVE IT THE FUCK BACK YOU ASSHOLES.
<hanetzer>
as much as I *really* hate gov't overreach, it would be nice if there was some consumer agency that basically forced lic compliance in devices like this.

<stintel>
russell--: not using it as a gateway. it's perfect for a redundant DNS/DHCP/... setup, not too expensive, no power brick coz PoE-PD, small form factor, in enclosure - RPi could be alternative but you'd have to get SD cards, PoE HATs, enclosures, ...
