I'm trying to build a custom package with CMake.. I've included cmake.mk and I'm defining CMAKE_OPTIONS. Does the build system automatically run $(CMAKE) $(CMAKE_OPTIONS) in $(PKG_BUILD_DIR) or do I have to intiate it myself? (same question with $(CMAKE) --build build)
<Grommish>
Or am I missing another define somewhere?

how to speed up openwrt builds again so that it doesn't build the llvm-bpf stuff every time?
<Guest9490>
I installed clang-12 but it doesn't do the trick
<Guest9490>
Looks like CONFIG_USE_LLVM_HOST isn't used by default

Anyone looked at the arc770 5.10 kernel update? hauke ?
<Guest9490>
rsalvaterra: or did you?
<rsalvaterra>
Nope, not me…
pmelange has joined #openwrt-devel
<dangole>
Guest9490: there was a known-to-be-broken 5.10 submission for arc770 which requires further investigation why pid 1 would crash when kernel starts it. probably an issue with toolchain or libc i would guess, but one would need to hardware to test and find out...
<Guest9490>
dangole: thanks, I'll send the devs an email
<rsalvaterra>
Manually editing patches in order to change relative file paths feels a bit insane, but I think I pulled it off. :P

Guest9490: I have to address some more comments by jow but I've been working on other stuff atm
<hauke>
Guest9490: I would just remove arc770 from OpenWrt
<stintel>
the nftables patch was accepted upstream, so that's good
<hauke>
As far as I know it only works on a simulator and some FPGAs
<stintel>
but I think it'll be for next year :)
<hauke>
OpenWrt does not support any device someone can normally buy with ARC CPUs

not willing to do remote firewall4 development

stintel: By the way, I think Ansuel has seen breakage with fw3 and the 5.15 kernel. I know fw4 is the future, but I don't see a reason not to keep fw3 working too, so I believe this will have to be addressed. :/
<nitroshift>
rsalvaterra, did you play with 5.15?
<stintel>
I will not touch 5.15 until we have a new release branch
<rsalvaterra>
nitroshift: Not yet. I'm with stintel on this, I'm not touching 5.15 until all targets are at KERNEL_PATCHVER:=5.10.
<nitroshift>
i tried ansuel's patches on x86, build failed, no time to look into it
<Guest9490>
stintel: do you aim fw4 for the next release?
<stintel>
afaik we do
<nitroshift>
stintel, any man page for fw4? what's different compared to fw3?
<Guest9490>
sure we do, just wanted to check if it's feasible and you're the most fw4 involved person I know of
<Guest9490>
nitroshift: different kernel API afaik
<stintel>
nitroshift: the idea is that it's going to be compatible with /etc/config/firewall as is
<Guest9490>
openwrt casually not breaking userspace
<nitroshift>
stintel, is it nftables-based instead of iptables?
<stintel>
yes
<nitroshift>
nice!

can't wait to try it on my new rig with 10G internet connection
<Guest9490>
anyone works on ipq807x? It's next to arc the only target missing 5.10 entirely
<rsalvaterra>
Guys, miniupnpd still needs nftables love.
<Guest9490>
rsalvaterra: please post in the related issues
<rsalvaterra>
The init script directly invokes fw3.
<stintel>
rsalvaterra: miniupnpd works with nftables
<rsalvaterra>
stintel: That's strange, you didn't change anything in the init script. And it's working? I see this line, for example: https://git.openwrt.org/?p=feed/packages.git;a=blob;f=net/miniupnpd/files/miniupnpd.init;h=cc13e04407414d3400021fa03eb02c40f99bd9b4;hb=HEAD#l101
<rsalvaterra>
ifname=$(fw3 -q zone "$external_zone" 2>/dev/null | head -1)
<stintel>
I am running that in production on my main router for over a month
<stintel>
fw3 exists as a symlink to fw4
<stintel>
it's like that from before I started working on it
<rsalvaterra>
Ok, carry on, then. :)
* rsalvaterra
wonders if we should just call it fw, since they're supposed to be compatible…
<rsalvaterra>
But fw could also mean firmware, possible ambiguity there.
<rsalvaterra>
Running just fine on my Redmi AC2100. Did several speed tests on the 5 GHz band.
