Mangix: specificalyl, when they get bonded downstream of the rcd (and might well not trip unless any load downstream of the rcd)

Mangix: if you're still saying that rcd will trip when no current flows, you're wrong, and I would recommend you don't spread that "info".

fwiw I'm a trained EE. I rest my case.

f00b4r0: Preusambyl, the case where no load on this circuit, and N-E low impadance short, still trips its' rcd, means that there is something like a neutral-eath fault upstream (E.g. on a non-rcd-protected circuit) creating 'diverted neutral current' -- SOME of which goes from N-E on that other circuit, and SOME of which goes E-N on "this" (otherwise unloaded) circuit which then trips "this" RCD

f00b4r0: in UK, the N-E link (TN-C-S head) is not actually in the first panel, always upstream of that. If interested, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fen8ekrhlBI ... I guess this is for libera.chat ##electronics or so really =)

enyc: that's exactly what I said yesterday.
<enyc>
oh yes so I see :O

enyc: let's not turn this into another XKCD#386 case ;-)
