it seems it nevertheless works, but that's quite scary
killgufo has joined #openwrt-devel
<schmars[m]>
does seem quite scary yeah :( dont know
<schmars[m]>
and it did preserve everything that was supposed to be preserved?
<schmars[m]>
have a couple of ath79 to upgrade as well
<f00b4r0>
I can't answer that last question because I'm sysupgrade'ing '-n'
<f00b4r0>
but given the error message it's quite possible the overlayfs would be hosed indeed
<f00b4r0>
this is on WDR3600 btw
<n3ph>
Just did an RC2 `sysupgrade -c` on a TL-WR1043ND v4, haven't seen similar issues. device specific?
<tmn505>
did You sysuograde on console attached to UART? Because You won't see this when connected with ssh.
<tmn505>
f00b4r0: I've seen this since "forever", I think after 18.06. Dindn't have any side effects, so shrug.
<f00b4r0>
tmn505: console attached indeed
<f00b4r0>
I remember seeing some errors but the oops feels kinda new
<f00b4r0>
it's been a while tho so maybe it was already there
<tmn505>
I think before it was only error about overlay used. Recently (I think since 23.05) oops follows it
<f00b4r0>
ok then, thanks
<Ansuel>
why the hell overlay is tried to mounted again?
<Ansuel>
in ramfs?
<Ansuel>
i have a wdr3600 so I will try to repro
<n3ph>
tmn505: true, I was on SSH and I wouldn't see it from there.

robimarko: Ansuel: hi!!
<mrkiko>
robimarko: Ansuel: I have an Archer C60 V3 with no serial access available for testing. And an Archer C60 V2 available for testing with serial access
<robimarko>
Howdy :)
<mrkiko>
:) :)
<mrkiko>
robimarko: also, I extracted the /lib/firmware folder that seems to contain useful data to extract the BDF files, if interested I can send it somehow
<mrkiko>
robimarko: or folow your instructions
<robimarko>
mrkiko: currently I lack bandwith for anything basically, until christmas I am going to be rather busy
<robimarko>
But if you unpacked the FW, all you need to do is find the BDF and package it
<mrkiko>
robimarko: is it common to have a setup so that they have boarddata_0.bin, then boarddata_0_br_ru.bin, boarddata_0_ca.bin and so on?
<mrkiko>
robimarko: note I unpacked the EU firmware
<Ansuel>
mrkiko EU should be good as should be the most compatible one around the world...
valku has quit [Quit: valku]
<mrkiko>
Ansuel: thanks! Now I unpacked the FW for v1, v2 and v3 and can observe bdfs are different, at least at first look
<mrkiko>
Ansuel: now was thinking I could bring out the v3 I have and see if the problem exists there as well.

aparcar[m]: pong, i'm back
<aparcar[m]>
efahl: thanks for the ping regarding IPv6, I disabled it to debug some stuff but it seems to be something about podman and fakeroot with ulimit
<aparcar[m]>
i wanted to ask if you could add a "dry run" mode to owut
<aparcar[m]>
and also if you could take over the luci app...
<aparcar[m]>
or if we could work together creating a mini lib to be used by firmware selector and luci
<efahl>
it probably already does it, the "download" runs a build but no sysupgrade, "blob" generates the request but doesn't send it
<aparcar[m]>
i'm somewhat unhappy with firmware selector ASU integration right now
<efahl>
sure, I can do the luci app stuff
<aparcar[m]>
efahl: okay sound good, thanks
<aparcar[m]>
efahl: thanks!
<efahl>
got a plan/wish-list somewhere for all of the owut/luci app/FS clients?
<aparcar[m]>
efahl: sure feel free to give it a try, I can make you a mod for that
<efahl>
sounds good, I've got lots of notes I made before writing owut that I can clean up and dump there
<mrkiko>
Ansuel: packacing should be correct, but as I said via the relevant tags, I tested only the V3. For V1 and V2 I got the board id informations from the github issue
<mrkiko>
Ansuel: for V3, I choose the main boarddata_0.bin; there where as I said, boarddata_0_ca.bin and boarddata_0_br_ru.bin but I tough it was abetter to use that one instead
<aparcar[m]>
efahl: ideally we have the "asu.js" smart enough to figure out whatpackages are available by itself
<efahl>
how about available versions and such, seems like that could be shared, too
<efahl>
hmm, now that I'm thinking about this, how about moving all of that stuff out of the clients and up to ASU server?
<efahl>
slim down the clients a bunch...
<aparcar[m]>
yea the server can store this information, too, like it did in the past. I just want to avoid we store tons of data on the server and keep it in constant sync
<efahl>
server could do pass-through, like we're doing now with the package stuff, but consolidate everything and put everything in one json call
<efahl>
I do like 8 calls to sysupgrade and downloads to get everything needed in owut...
<aparcar[m]>
sure, ideally we mostly annoy the CDN and don't DDOS our own infra by implementing to fancy upgrade tools 🙂
<aparcar[m]>
anywya I'm off for now, let's chat soon
<mrkiko>
Ansuel: I didn't set variant as you can see - qcom,ath10k-calibration-variant not set in DTS. Not sure if it's better to set it, maybe for each version
