<popey> I don't understand the issue with telegram (16k page size) on asahi. It doesn't need patching. I just built it on my Ubuntu Asahi machine and it "just works". No changes upstream needed. https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop/issues/24564
<popey> Oh, I guess arch people need to rebuild jemalloc, but in Ubuntu, the snap builds that during the snap build, so not an issue.
<tobhe[m]> I think that might be because it picks up your host page size
<tobhe[m]> if it was built on a 4k arm64 builder it wouldn't work
<tobhe[m]> that should work 🙂

<john-cabaj[m]> I think the current Noble rust and bindgen versions are not compatible
<tobhe[m]> 0.o
<tobhe[m]> are they in sync with debian sid?
<john-cabaj[m]> No, Debian is still goofy too.
<john-cabaj[m]> I think the 6.6 kernel needs Rust 1.71 and Bindgen 0.65
<john-cabaj[m]> Debian and Ubuntu package Bindgen 0.66
<john-cabaj[m]> Debian Rust might be 1.70, actually
<tobhe[m]> you could try asking liushuyu about the ubuntu versions
<john-cabaj[m]> Already have. I think they're focused on 6.7
<john-cabaj[m]> So we're a bit stuck in a tricky place
<tobhe[m]> can you use the staged rust ppa?
<john-cabaj[m]> I think the Rust version is fine regardless, but Bindgen is giving me problems
<john-cabaj[m]> We have Bindgen 0.65, but it has some weird Rust 1.72 dependency
<john-cabaj[m]> It's all very strange
<tobhe[m]> and the kernel can't be convinced to build with 0.66?
<john-cabaj[m]> Bindgen is throwing a panic. I'll have to try to trace where that's coming from and see if it can be patched.
<john-cabaj[m]> Ok, was able to find bindgen-0.65 and things are looking better
