<john-cabaj[m]> Are the speakers enabled without speakersafetyd running?
<tobhe[m]> they shouldn't
<john-cabaj[m]> They definitely aren't, just wanted to confirm
<john-cabaj[m]> New kernel builds are available
<john-cabaj[m]> Is speakersafetyd coming through Debian?
<tobhe[m]> already accepted into unstable
<tobhe[m]> a few tiny bits are still missing
<tobhe[m]> i need to copy and rebuild some packages
<tobhe[m]> mostly rust dependencies
<eslerm[m]> <tobhe[m]> "a few tiny bits are still..." <- I'm not following this closely, but https://pleroma.debian.social/objects/8ca11865-febf-44bb-99f5-7a46b029e7fe
<eslerm[m]> iirc, Debian Feature Freeze is mid February

<popey> tobhe[m] anything anyone can do to help?
<tobhe[m]> I don't really have a plan yet. I think we best wait for things to show up on launchpad and then work from there
<tobhe[m]> https://launchpad.net/debian/+source/bankstown-lv2 is already there but no speakersafetyd yet
<tobhe[m]> we will also have to figure out how we can package the rust dependencies in there
<tobhe[m]> ideally I think we should just bundle them but the docs on how that works are pretty sparse
<tobhe[m]> at least for the existing releases bundling seems to be the better way. in noble we will have them in the archive from debian
<tobhe[m]> if https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RustCodeInMain contained a link to a package that actually uses vendoring it would be a lot more helpful. in the current form I don't really understand what I am supposed to do
<popey> Hah!
<tobhe[m]> hm speakersafetyd also through some advanced debian magic falls out of https://salsa.debian.org/rust-team/debcargo-conf and is called https://launchpad.net/debian/+source/rust-speakersafetyd
<tobhe[m]> so we might actually have everything we need
<tobhe[m]> I'll see if I can collect it all here https://launchpad.net/~tobhe/+archive/ubuntu/asahi-audio-test/+packages
<tobhe[m]> github code search to the rescue: https://github.com/ubuntu/aad-auth/blob/main/debian/rules

<tobhe[m]> let's see how this goes https://launchpad.net/~tobhe/+archive/ubuntu/audiotest2/+packages this is a vendored version
<tobhe[m]> looks like it worked
