ChanServ changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630)
<robclark> OTOH, as best I can tell, the chromium code depends on some non-upstream kernel patches somehow.. possibly at least the hack to get nv12+ubwc, but maybe others.. so venus might work better *not* using the chrome(ium) video stack at this point

<Dylanger> <Dylanger> "`mpv --hwdec=v4l2m2m_copy`" <- I'll download a YouTube video and test this today
<Dylanger> Make sure I can actually get it to play smoothly
<Dylanger> Firefox is absolute trash
<Dylanger> It's software rendering engine is garbo
<amstan> > * <@dylanger:diagnostix.io> clones chromium
<amstan> you're a masochist, lol
<Dylanger> Bahahahaha
<steev> or he's a gentoo user
<steev> but also, v4lm2m_copy seems to not do venus?
<steev> at least, it isn't here
<steev> it's locking to the LITTLE cores even
<steev> unless the 30-40% is just for the audio, which i suppose could be possible
<steev> ffplay seems to lock it to 1 big core instead of mpv locking it across the 4 littles
<HdkR> robclark: There are some maintained patches for Chromium video decode outside of chromeos. This is why I use mpv for any web videos :P
<steev> i just use mpv because it happens to work in wayland and not require Xwayland
