steev: so playing with the c630, if I put the ipa_fws.elf firmware from windows in place the system will not boot with the cpu hanging. I did use f41 ga which is 6.11.4 maybe I need to get something newer. it seems to mostly work, except I do not have working wifi
<steev>
dgilmore: i see that here too, unfortunately, lumag was looking into it, it seems coresight(?) related? but it only seems to occur with distro kernels and not e.g. the defconfig of kernels
<steev>
defconfig of upstream*
<steev>
since i dont have a working sim, i just blacklist ipa
<steev>
wifi *should* work though, i am definitely using it
<dgilmore>
I don't have a sim in it. I will do something similiar
<steev>
yeah, modprobe_blacklist=ipa or some such on the command line should let you boot it
<dgilmore>
only thing I see for wifi is "ath10k_snoc 18800000.wifi: Adding to iommu group 11"
<steev>
i think i have seen similar before, but it was a kernel issue, i am still on 6.12 at the moment

hello how's everyone doing
<steev>
doin okay here
<steev>
dgilmore: i can not remember what the issue itself was, i know bamse also ran into it and his memory is likely better than mine :(
<sporos11[m]>
I've been following your blog posts on the C630 for a couple of years, how are things running now? I've been running mine on Windows the past year cause I wanted to use it for windows arm development
<steev>
still running linux here :) we still do not (afaik) have the c630 firmware in upstream
<steev>
and alas, i wiped out my blog setup at one point years ago so have not re set it up, though i started to recently
<steev>
that is why there have not been new posts
<steev>
what were you building for windows?
<sporos11[m]>
Has anyone ever gotten the WWAN working yet?
<sporos11[m]>
on the modem
<steev>
we were just discussing these things :)
<steev>
it does if you use the kernel defconfig, but not a distro config
<sporos11[m]>
oh no way lol
<sporos11[m]>
Yeah I remember playing around with that when I had mine running Manjaro, I thought about install postmarketos because I believe their kernel source alone has some patches for qcom modem compatibility but that may be outdated info.
<sporos11[m]>
Are there additional firmware blobs needed as well from the Windows partition?
<sporos11[m]>
<steev> "it does if you use the kernel..." <- I'll have to dust mine off and give it a try.
<sporos11[m]>
<steev> "what were you building for..." <- I compiled some of my favorite apps and tools for it, but it still wasn't useful enough for my purposes so it got thrown in a drawer. Even on the latest build of Windows 11 and last BIOS revision this thing is just buggy.

i do believe you still need the firmware from the windows partition (or one of the githubs that has it)
<steev>
though pmOS might have it all packaged

just got my t14s 64gb. has any of you upgrade the ssd to 2tb lenovo only lists 1tb as max.
<HdkR>
I had a 2TB SSD prepped for the device, but I never got around to using it

has anyone managed to get Netflix working? Widevine generally works (Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, both work), just Netflix refuses to play videos. Is there any secret trick?

<albsen[m]>
is there something I need to be aware of when moving my SSD from x13s to t14s? I mean, I'd expect to need a different device tree I guess, and I read that I also need to copy some firmware files from windows as well as patch grub. I've reviewed johan's wiki entry here: https://github.com/jhovold/linux/wiki/T14s

Okay I think I'm losing it, for some reason on this board if I do a cold start everything works, but if I do a software reboot, the i2c based probes fail with EAGAIN on regmap_read
<SpieringsAE>
this worked fine when I left it last week :(
<smoorgborg[m]>
Is that why the trackpoint on the T14s sometimes behaves erratic when switching kernels by reboot? Hmm .... ?
<SpieringsAE>
nah my pain is not snapdragon related
<SpieringsAE>
in this situation at least
<maz>
wild guess: if the pull-ups are controlled by GPIOs, check that they are in the correct state.
<SpieringsAE>
this board has terrible pinctrl, but it is the same as what everyone else does for I2C
<maz>
that's the mux to route the I2C controller to the pins, not the state of the PUPs that the *bus* requires.
<maz>
you need to look that your board's schematics, and find whether you have a hard PUP to VIO, or whether that's driven by a GPIO.
<SpieringsAE>
yeah its hard
<SpieringsAE>
10k to 3v3
<maz>
ok, something else then.
<SpieringsAE>
maybe
<SpieringsAE>
just before these devices the PMIC is initialized, this 3v3 is coming from the PMIC, maybe that is messing with it
<maz>
could be that the PMIC hasn't finished ramping up the rail. usually, you get a status bit telling you when it is "good".
<SpieringsAE>
but it has regulator-boot-on, I believe it should already be on in U-boot, I'm gonna try adding a delay like some of the others have
<maz>
if you start relying on u-boot, you're SOL. ;-)

jeah u-boot is the next challenge when I get this running properly, there is one other issue left, for some reason drm initializes super late, graphical.target gets reached at like 7sec, but the display only comes on at like 15sec for some reason
<JensGlathe[m]>
link training?
<SpieringsAE>
nope, this is direct lvds
<SpieringsAE>
just run the clock and go
<SpieringsAE>
for some reason the samsung-dsim driver only gets probed after 15 seconds ish
