<Glanzmann>
Just tested google meet in firefox under xorg/fvwm2 on Debian testing with all updates applied. Works for me.
<Glanzmann>
This was on the m1 air. On my mini xorg doesn't start at the moment, no idea why.
<Glanzmann>
I downgraded the kernel on my mini to the one that I have int he Debian repository (6.1.0-asahi) and now xorg works again. So it was the kernel.

marcan told something in #asahi-gpu that xorg looks like broken at the newest kernels.

cy8aer: I see. I'll try the next asahi kernel release. Maybe I have more luck.
<cy8aer>
Glanzman1: do you really still work with xorg? Is there a special workflow which needs it?
<Glanzman1>
cy8aer: Yes, I use fvwm since 1994 and not going to change that. A very good friend of mine uses WindowMaker. Which is also not available for wayland. As a result he will also stick on xorg.
<cy8aer>
Ah, I see.
<Glanzman1>
cy8aer: At least for intel or amd gpu, you can enable tearfree and it works at least for my usecase (terminal, browser, mupdf, xfreerdp, mpv): https://pbot.rmdir.de/TBqEJojh3h9X0PbpfaWOWQ
<cy8aer>
What you would need would be a simple compositor which only offers XWayland
<Glanzman1>
cy8aer: I also have a very customized config with has 81 key combinations that let me focus, start, move, tile, hide, ... windows.
<chadmed>
Glanzman1: probably worth keeping in mind that no one here is actively going to put effort into fixing xorg bugs from here on out
<chadmed>
its fundamentally broken given how DCP works
<Glanzman1>
chadmed: I know. That is why I no longer use the mini has my workstation and use an amd gpu which just works.
<Glanzman1>
The only thing I don't like about the setup, is that the board can't do 128 GB ECC RAM. But 64 GB RAM is enough for a workstation considering that I need 99% of time less than 8 GB. And soon there will be other boards which support ecc ram.

cy8aer, another reason to use xorg is that barrier/synergy don't work on wayland
<cy8aer>
