the idea is to discourage people from using _unreleased_ versions of the kernel and mesa

g.fd.o asahi/mesa tags are fair game, and the source tree of whatever version of the kernel is tagged off for use in the PKGBUILD is also fair game

the issue was people jumping the gun and pushing releases with every new (sometimes untested) commit or tag and then users coming to complain that something wasnt working

if you want to mirror upstream, you could have the -edge kernel as a separate package

yeah, the biggest issue with some other distros or "tutorials" were people pushing branches that sometimes literally had "hack" or "wip" in their name to end users
