<dylanchapell>
does the widevine drm hack work on fedora currently or is it arch only?
<chadmed>
a few people are using some variation of this
<chadmed>
but mostly DIY
<chadmed>
this is just a barebones .config that is enough to get a machine working with all currently supported features
<chadmed>
but it doesnt have many peripheral drivers or fluff, its not really a distro kernel
<j`ey>
ah, I couldn't find it in the overlay
<j`ey>
(Was trying to see if FB_EFI was set)
<chadmed>
i used to ship a .config with the "install wizard" but there was no point when the arch kernel config worked fine with gentoo so i replaced it with zcat /proc/config.gz > .config
<chadmed>
but now the fedora kernel is just wholly incompatible for some reason (doesnt load firmware) so i will need to ship one again
<leio>
I wish for a make apple_m1_modconfig or whatever which would have built-in all that's in all the hardware, as modules what all else could be attached to the machine via USB/tbolt/whatever, but all disabled that can't ever me there on those (hardware drivers that are integrated into other type of computers that can be built as modules)
<j`ey>
that's basically a config I had before, but now I switched to fedora and don't plan on maintaining a kernel
<j`ey>
(I even went a bit further and made some (silly) changes to the kernel source)
<j`ey>
I also tried to disable the hypervisor mode that AS doesn't support (NVHE) but that was tricky and I never got it to build
<chadmed>
im carrying patches to deal with the codec power management because TI are seemingly incapable of doing their jobs
<j`ey>
why not put that in the asahi repo?
<chadmed>
we're getting to it
<chadmed>
theyre not 100% reliable on some machines so theres still some digging to do
<chadmed>
im really worried that we may not get sleep + speakers without shared gpio...
<j`ey>
ah
