05:58 <kdb424> I've done eselect kernel and validated symlinks. I'm a veteran of Gentoo (on and off since 2008), but the M1 is newer to me here. If Genkernel fails, I'll just go oldschool. Good call out.

Not a lack of general Gentoo knowledge, but exotic hardware I just assume is more different than it is, and followed that, as I'm sure others have as well. Been able to use most things as expected post install though, including using OpenRC instead of systemd
