I don't normally use KDE but have been having trouble with Umbrello in my other window managers so started KDE to take a look. But my KDE video scale is terribly small. However when I move the scale slider and apply it gives me damn blury text. I think it's pretty common folks are using KDE since it ships as the default. Can anyone tell me how to set the scale so it doesn't look like shit?

It looks like some of these values are set regarding QT: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HiDPI#Qt_5 . I don't remember setting them, but greping around the filesystem trying to figure out where they are set. Want to figure out what I should do to get a font that won't make me squint.

I'm using MBP 16" and 4k is just too small for me. But when I adjust the slider the fonts get all pixelated and look like they're missing parts. Perhaps I will take a screenshot.

ChaosPrincess: no haven't tried that yet. I assumed because I "apply" the settings and the fonts change, it will result in the same. But that's a big assumption. I would have to drop out of IRC to do that. But it makes sense to try it. It feels like the 90s having to restart the WM after changing something like that, but perhaps that's necessary.

yea, some things like language and display scaling are assumed to change infrequently enough to require a restart

now to try umbrello under kde. I was having all sorts of issues using it. I would try removing "composition" symbols and it was deleting other objects, other symbols were not pointing to what i clicked on, etc.

I took some screenshots of what I percieve as a bug of umbrello . It happens in KDE also. I was thinking perhaps it's an issue with the arch version of umbrello. But maybe umbrello just has a terrible UI.

i'm having an odd issue - an M1 mac mini hangs on the shutdown TTY for about 2-3 minutes with no error messages. sysrqs seem to do nothing?

it eventually shuts down or reboots as requested, but the hanging is odd. haven't seen it on other machines
