<chadmed>
tech journalists get something right challenge (impossible challenge)
<psykose>
this really is just article spam
<psykose>
it's like three paragraphs and 1 is about the title
<psykose>
insert as many ads as content and voila
<psykose>
safely ignored :-)
<chadmed>
it is quite dismaying nonetheless

the byline means nothing in modern journalism
<chadmed>
its just a face to an article, its either copywritten by an AI, an intern, or the editors to fit the publication's narrative
<chadmed>
kinda like how the chef on the microwave meal packaging didnt actually prepare the meal inside
<joske>
hehe
<joske>
he didn't???? I want my money back!
<jannau>
I guess the comment about the usefullness of the devices should have been in the commit messages and not just in the cover letter
<chadmed>
maybe mainstream tech journos should do their damn jobs
<chadmed>
but as has already been said its just lazy clickbaity content to generate views/engagement

mainstream news coverage of anything that isn't inherently attention-grabbing will always be lacking and clickbaity
<Zopolis4>
even stuff that is inherently attention grabbing will be clickbaity
<Zopolis4>
just due to the economics of the news buisness

Hello, I'm looking at the Feature Support table and I'm wondering what's the difference between cpufreq and cpuidle? And what's the effect of not having cpuidle feature?
<j`ey>
cpufreq means scaling the CPU up and down at runtime
<j`ey>
idle is when it wants to 'turn off' a CPU
<j`ey>
not having full cpuidle means that it wastes more power than it should, when idling

has anyone tried installing the swift toolchain on asahi? I downloaded swift-5.7.3-RELEASE-ubuntu22.04-aarch64.tar.gz from swift.org, but it prompts "swift-driver: error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" even if I already have ncurses installed
<weitcis>
I then tried things like "ln -s /usr/lib/libncursesw.so.6.4 /usr/lib/libncurses.so.6" to fix this kind of errors and got the swift compiler to work, but when I try to run the lldb in the toolchain it crashes saying that "/usr/lib/libpanel.so.6: version `NCURSES6_5.0.19991023' not found "
<weitcis>
just wondering if there is any way to solve this

i seem to have a problem with the headphone jack on m1pro mbp: the jack does not show in kde's volume manager, the only relevant message in dmesg is 'sound: deferred probe pending', the cs42l84 looks like it failed to probe, and even attempting to manually bind it to the codec does not work

weitcis: Those all look like functions that should be in the Swift stdlib. Maybe something forgot to link lldb to it?
