<CosmicPenguin> Has anybody been doing any upstream adjacent work on the Thundercomm EB5? I know that details are scant but I just need a shell, nothing too fancy on the peripherals
<bamse> CosmicPenguin: we've got pretty good upstream support for the qrb5165 in the form of the "robotics kit 5" (rb5)...so while i'm not aware of anyone having poked at the EB5 in particular it should be very straight forward to get up and running

<abhinav___> bamse: just wanted to check if other than no code reviews, anything else pending for https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-arm-msm/list/?series=560587&state=%2A&archive=both because https://lore.kernel.org/all/1637917920-22041-1-git-send-email-quic_c_skakit@quicinc.com/ seems to be blocked on this. we need both for sc7280 chromebook
<Marijn[m]> abhinav___: I shared some issues with the thing both here and on the lists, I wonder if anyone confirmed whether this is a "me" problem or patterns are universally misbehaving?
<bamse> Marijn[m]: i felt that the color ordering was on you, but i never got around to confirm it
<Marijn[m]> bamse: Yeah perhaps I just misconfigured sdm660, both the colors and timing are off
<bamse> Marijn[m]: right, the timing i'm not so sure about...
<Marijn[m]> This vague black hole in the top of my head seems to remember that it worked in an earlier patchset, but I think it was the same back to at least v7 or v8
<bamse> abhinav___: i need to get back to Marijn[m] with a new patches or a statement that he's wrong ;)
<bamse> abhinav___: and the backlight on my laptop is driven by the same, so i would like to land it too, just haven't gotten back to it again
<Marijn[m]> Hehe I don't want to block your backlight with some stupid notification discoball wishes though ^^
<bamse> well, if i could please you i might get a positive review comment and the maintainer might merge the patches
<Marijn[m]> Hehe I wanted to give an r-b because the code is good... Then found something didn't work :(
<Marijn[m]> I have yet to try new phones, perhaps
<bamse> my problem is that i have 4 green LEDs next to eachother and the schematics doesn't tell me which order they sit in...so if you say the channels are backwards...that might be the case
<bamse> but it used to be correct...
<CosmicPenguin> bamse: I was skeptical, but yep, booted right up.
<bamse> CosmicPenguin: iirc we don't have an upstream way of representing the sequence of operations needed to turn on the power to the wifi chip...and we don't yet have usb-c/displayport integrated...other than that i think it's in pretty good shape
<bamse> CosmicPenguin: and limited low-power support...
<CosmicPenguin> I just needed the console, so this is perfect
<bamse> sounds like a lot of hardware just to see a console ;)
<CosmicPenguin> long story, basically I need a pcie slot and this was the fastest/easiest way
<bamse> does that board have a proper PCIe slot?
<CosmicPenguin> It has a port that you can connect a ribbon cable to - I dunno, our ee guys figured it out
<bamse> fancy
<bamse> but yeah, you should have both console and pcie upstream on the qrb5165
<bamse> and in exchange for this information will i have a dts from you? ;)
<CosmicPenguin> Yeah, quite possibly. Right now I'm using the vanilla rb5 and nothing is freaking out on me.
<bamse> cool, looking forward to it :)
