<neggles> ...wow, github are giant jerks around LFS and it's *completely pointless* - want to pull files from an LFS repo that's run out of bandwidth allowance? fork the repo, go to your fork's settings, check the "include LFS files in archives" box, and download a zipball
<neggles> congrats you just got all the LFS files without having to ask some random repo owner to give github $5

<zarzarzar> Hi guys! Is there any ready-to-use integration of zcip (zeroconf, 169.254.x.x) into netifd/udhcpc? I want to set up zeroconf address if DHCP client fails. I've found 7-years-old patchset in openwrt-devel, but it doesn't seem like a good solution for me.
dangole_ has joined #openwrt-devel
<jow> zarzarzar: nope, there isn't
<zarzarzar> jow: it's a pity. even in forks/mods/etc (not in mainline)? anyway, thanks for your reply
Tapper has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<karlp> there's avahi-autoipd? but not sure if it's well integrated into netifd
goliath has joined #openwrt-devel
rua has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<zarzarzar> karlp: avahi-autoipd can't be used as a fallback for dhcp proto; moreover, provided script (avahi-autoipd.action) assigns IP address using ip/ifconfig instead of ubus/netifd so it is also not a good solution.
<zarzarzar> however, there is a solution from Buildroot: https://github.com/buildroot/buildroot/blob/master/package/busybox/udhcpc.script#L51

<f00b4r0> correct me if I'm wrong but we have no way to tell wapd/hostapd that a given AP is outdoors? Or otherwise restrict the frequency band into which it's okay to switch channels upon DFS?
<f00b4r0> I just noticed one of my outdoors AP was "breaking the law"

<\x> hi, Ive tested AX200 earlier on openwrt and it worked with the help of this thread
<\x> maybe sometime we can get iwlwifi-firmware-ax200 or something to show up on menuconfig?
<\x> but yeah, its very limited currently, AP mode only works on 2.4GHz
<dangole_> \x: surprised to hear that AP mode works on iwlwifi at all
<rsalvaterra> It does…?! o_O
gladiac is now known as Guest6204
gladiac has joined #openwrt-devel
<\x> it does work on 2.4GHz only
<\x> as for client mode, i tried up to AC client, seems fine but no long term testing
<\x> i dotn have any ax devices to test its ax capability
<\x> i tested on an R619AC, ipq4019 device that got merged recently
Guest6204 has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<rsalvaterra> \x: Hm. Does it support multiple VIFs (APs)?
<\x> rsalvaterra: i can try after my nvme testing
<\x> okay, ill test now, wait a little
<rsalvaterra> \x: You should be able to tell by looking at iw list, the valid interface combinations section.
<\x> okay
<\x> scp /home/user/Downloads/iwlwifi-cc-a0-59.ucode root@192.168.1.1:/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-cc-a0-59.ucode
<\x> iw phy
<rsalvaterra> \x: Single AP.
<rsalvaterra> Better than nothing, I guess…
<rsalvaterra> … but I do have to wonder how much testing Intel does in AP mode. My guess is "almost none".
<PaulFertser> #{ AP, mesh point } <= 16
<rsalvaterra> PaulFertser: Wrong PHY. ;)
<PaulFertser> rsalvaterra: why do you say single?
<\x> PaulFertser: thats the ipq4019
<PaulFertser> Oh silly me
<rsalvaterra> It's phy1.
<rsalvaterra> Also, no mesh point support.
<\x> maybe it can be used als as a 2.4GHz AX AP in sme time? i tried currently, it desnt do it
<\x> VHE right?
<PaulFertser> It claims support for HE on 2.4 GHz it seems.
<\x> oh my bad theyre actually here
<\x> oops wrong channel
<f00b4r0> replying to myself after checking the source, it does seem hostapd has no provision for differentiating outdoor AP
<f00b4r0> which is rather disturbing given the hefty fines for not abiding to indoor-only channels
<tmn505> f00b4r0: You can work-around it by specifying 'channels' https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/basic#common_options
<f00b4r0> tmn505: unfortunately no, that doesn't work.
<f00b4r0> on DFS event, hostapd will happily jump to a non-dfs, no-outdoor channel
<f00b4r0> and "channels" is ignored when a fixed channel is configured
<tmn505> it worked in my limited testing, it jumped only to the channels I specified
<f00b4r0> so you set channel "auto" and then specified "channels", and it didn't jump out of the list?
<tmn505> yes
<f00b4r0> I'll give it a shot. Clearly complicates channel planning, but heh
