<\x> ahaha robimarko I read that board.bin as fallback late
<\x> nonetheless I have it in as board-2.bin works the samesies, just more steps
<\x> t'was like 12AM last night I went to sleep. maaan I kinda hate that I have to wait for the whole family to be sleeping to do some testing on this thing
<\x> I have another question then, theres a regdb clause on ath11k-bdencoder json, is there some boardfiles out there with one? so I can pull that out and include it in?
<\x> i looked around on most available ipq60xx and 807x boardfiles and havent found any still
<vulpes2[m]> How safe is it to use `mtd write` on a running system that is running off that squashfs partition?
MaxS0niX has joined #openwrt-devel
<vulpes2[m]> I'm trying to write some flashing instructions for users to do in the stock firmware, and I want to minimize the chances of things going wrong
<vulpes2[m]> (stock firmware isn't openwrt based)
<robimarko> \x: Nope, there aint no public regdb.bin
<\x> aw, so I guess wait time. no channel 12 and 13 for 807x too? or just 60xx?

<\x> thanks
<\x> maaan, were not even stable with wifi 6 and both mtk and qc's mobile SoCs will have Wi-Fi 7
<\x> *pre-certified*
<robimarko> \x: thats gonna end up like pre-AX stuff
<robimarko> With half features missing and non-certifiable
<robimarko> Its just marketing, nothing else

<\x> ok
<\x> wont this need newer iwinfo?
<\x> or iwinfo changes merged already?
<dhewg> yeah, see the linked PR
<dhewg> nope, you need both
<\x> ill have a go

<\x> dhewg: i have a nitpick
<\x> is that okay to say?
<\x> make sure that when 6GHz is used, only allow WPA3-SAE and OWE
<\x> dhewg: also, I dont have any other 6e capable devices, so my testing ends here ;)
<dhewg> javascript is like moonspraak to me
<\x> well
<\x> that has to be in there imo
<\x> else itll cause confusion on why it wont work
<\x> 6GHz is SAE only
<\x> just now I got confused by it since the openwrt default is open network
<\x> i was like wtf why wont it open, then i remembered yeah
<\x> default should be OWE
<\x> https://github.com/openwrt/luci/pull/6104?#issuecomment-1319975753
<dhewg> that was quick, thx

<\x> dhewg: I have three of these R619AC's, two are now sitting unused :D
<\x> fast build is yeah because I build for one and a 3900X...
<\x> dhewg: also nice job on having Mediatek MT7921AU in there haha
<\x> its the little things man
<dhewg> ;) but lets see if that passes review
<\x> well iposted my nitpick in there which might require you to do more, do I remove it? :X
<dhewg> the usb identification is slightly hacky, but so is the fdt compatible thing in there
<dhewg> nah, let the owe/sae thing in there ofc. I agree, but maybe some js coder knows how to properly do that
<\x> j o w
<dhewg> also, it reads "Open network" instead of "OWE" here, do you have some further patches applied?
<\x> OWE is open network
<\x> opportunistic wireless encryption
<dhewg> sure, but your screenshot shows different it differently than what I'm seeing
<\x> hmmm idk
<dhewg> maybe translated differently?
<\x> i do have like VHT/2.4 and 896MHz oc patch
<\x> shouldnt be relevant
<\x> might be the theme?
<\x> idk man
<dhewg> maybe, I just use the bootstrap theme
<\x> dhewg: im sure you can get "morrownr" of https://github.com/morrownr/USB-WiFi/ to test
<\x> oic ur thre already
<\x> there*
<\x> dhewg: nah, its not the theme
<\x> i tested on another device, bootstrap dark vs openwrt theme, shows "OWE (open network)"
<\x> might be because i have wpad-openssl?
<dhewg> wpad-mesh-openssl here
<\x> i have full wpad on everything

<dhewg> the mesh variant doesn't do CONFIG_OWE=y ...
<\x> you have the space right? go full already :D then disable small footprint
<\x> helbs a lil bit
<dhewg> sure, I got space, I don't need OWE, just wondered why it's not there for me
<dhewg> see commit f8c88a87752c93b380231bd60a3d94416a21302c , it left out mesh
<\x> well I mean, OWE will have to be the default on 6GHz since normal "open network" will not work
<\x> hostpad prevents that
<\x> I guess this is now a chain of cascading dependencies now haha
<dhewg> yeah, I get that. So in this setup it should only offer sae for me
<\x> yup
<\x> I also called in another guy from a local networking community, im sure he'll be posting tests sometime

<hurricos> So, say I have the .tar.gz resulting from a sysupgrade -b in hand, as well as a sysupgrade image, for a "basic"-format install.
<hurricos> that's to say, like many mips boards have, "not NAND"
<hurricos> no ubi, nothing -- just a kernel and rootfs partition.
<hurricos> is there any way to combine the two together so that the resulting image can be placed directly on the `firmware` partition?
Borromini has quit [Quit: Lost terminal]
<hurricos> OK. The "default_do_upgrade" way of appending configuration is to use mtd's -j argument to add to the jffs partition at the end of the base rootfs, which seems somewhat implementation-specific
<hurricos> that's fine, though
