<f00b4r0> sometimes I wish ubox' logd/logread was available on plain linux
<opty> could anyone with qca9984 paste ht_capab and vht_capab?
<stintel> f00b4r0: package it ?
<stintel> it's cmake, should be quite easy to have cmake produce RPM or DEB
<stintel> no need to fiddle with debian/ or ubox.spec
<f00b4r0> stintel: quick look at the code shows it's rather tightly coupled with ubus tho
<stintel> package that too :P
<f00b4r0> heh
<stintel> have local ebuilds for libubox, ubox, ubus, uci, ucode myself
<f00b4r0> but does that work in a normal system or do you need to "port" everything?
<f00b4r0> cause what I want is a system-wide circular buffer memory logger. Only not systemd-journald ;P
<stintel> I've done it to be able to run ucode locally, that worked fine

<JS42> Is there any chance to get the latest MT76 fixes backported to 22.03? Wifi on MT7915 is really unstable and there is a newer MT76 release on master (still unstable) and even more fixes in the MT76 repo.
<Borromini> JS42: they can be backported cleanly if you'd like AFAIK, but you'd have to build your own
minimal has joined #openwrt-devel
<Borromini> even if it were backported to 22.03 you'd still need a new point release to get official binaries (unless the 22.03 snapshots are still going)
MaxS0niX has joined #openwrt-devel
<stintel> JS42: unstable how?
<stintel> I've been running master on 7915e for about a year and it's been a dream
<JS42> Borromini: Building my own is nothing I have done before, that's why I came here to ask. I am not a developer. 22.03-Snapshots are still build whenever something changes, but from seeing those fixes there for so long it looks kind of abandoned.
<stintel> I'd go as far as call it near ath9k stable
<JS42> stintel: I am facing the same issues as this: https://github.com/openwrt/mt76/issues/707 and https://github.com/openwrt/mt76/issues/709
<JS42> I have the zyxel outdoor router mentioned in the release notes of 22.03.2.
<stintel> I see. I don't use mesh and probably never will, I don't believe in it, all my APs have UTP uplink. and my main APs are mt7621/mt7915e
<stintel> but I have not seen slow 802.11ax on my Unifi 6LR which is mt7622 but don't know which 5GHz/ax chip by heart
<Slimey> adtran responded with my GPL request for the 6040 and wants to know my intentions haha
<stintel> lol, none of their business
<JS42> stintel: well, looks like you are one of the lucky ones. ;-) so far I have nothing but trouble...
<stintel> JS42: has this always happened, or after an upgrade?
<G10h4ck> nbd do you remember our conversation about a new wifi mesh like mode but based on AP mode plus some modifications to hostapd ?
<JS42> it was that way from the start. the zyxel is supported since 22.03.2 and I tried that one, 22.03-SNAPSHOT and SNAPSHOT.
<Borromini> stintel: like i said my EAP615 craps out every few days here as well, with 22.03 stable or the master mt76
cbeznea has joined #openwrt-devel
<stintel> interesting
<stintel> could you link it to a client causing it ?
<Borromini> might be something as simple as a specific settings, who knows
<Borromini> i see issues with an AX210
<Borromini> the smartphone seems to continue to work somehow
<stintel> the issues I'm seeing with AX210 are 11r related, but when it's connected, speed is absolutely fine
<Borromini> speed no complaints here either
<stintel> it just disconnects often due to some bug with 11r, but reconnects fine
<Borromini> here i'll lose connection every so often until i ssh in and restart wifi, that's sufficient for me
<stintel> I never have to restart wifi
<stintel> so I guess I'm indeed lucky and not hitting your issue
<stintel> not sure you mentioned, did you try master?
<JS42> I tried master, yes... still had issues, but as mentioned, there were quite some MT76 fixes after the latest MT76 point release

<Borromini> yep, wireless stack is identical.
<JS42> Borromini: Did you bump to the latest mt76 release or did you backport all the fixes up to Nov 19, 2022?

<hurricos> What *is* the right way to force a procd service to wait for network-up?
<hurricos> Re-order in /etc/rc.d isn't going to do it -- the service in question is already at S98.
<karlp> hurricos: hotplug scripts to start it, and an empty boot() I believe
<hurricos> ok, other question
<hurricos> much harder one I imagine
<hurricos> how does one procd_add_jail_mount a file referred to by a symlink?
