Maybe debugging is harder with epoll-shim? It not an insignificant amount of code that needs to be depended on. I think that kqueue support would only add ~200 lines of codes to libwayland.

For the features that are required by libwayland, I don't think there's much of a difference between "dialects". Maybe some are missing oob events? I implement kqueue in my software, and no one's complained yet that it doesn't work on their personal niche BSD.

Now, that's interesting. I'm sure there will be a problem with Darwin (there is always a problem with Darwin), but can try to fix if/when a native kqueue is implemented in libwayland.
