<Max1>
Is there any way to modify the panel-position option from weston.ini's [shell] section from the command line?
<Max1>
I have a script that currently manages to pass all needed options via command line flags, and I'd like to avoid having to create a config file
<mvlad>
no, all of that is retrieved from the config file.
<Max1>
Ok, thanks!

ok i now have an descriptor (int fd) management system :) so now i can revert to storing integers instead of pointers :)
<smallville7123>
(tho such merely wraps the pointers themselves)
<smallville7123>
which means we can now emulate some unix syscalls more closely since actual fd's are used instead of pointers, such as dupfd with minfd
<smallville7123>
or dupfd with an exact fd (in which the given fd is closed before being reused)

(apologies if i asked this before) assume a client which opens an xdg_popup with an explicit grab. the popup has a draggable icon; clicking it sends a wl_data_device.start_drag request. what is the expected compositor behavior? send wl_data_device.drop immediately?
<vyivel>
more generally, how do grabs from different sources interact with each other?
<vyivel>
it also would be nice to specify what a grab is in wayland.xml, seems like a concept copied from x11 without explanation

<emersion>
i'd expect the DnD to have priority over the popup
<emersion>
i wonder if a compositors could implement it with multiple stacked grabs
<emersion>
ie. DnD is the active grab, the popup isn't closed, and the popup gets back the grab after DnD ends
<vyivel>
as for now, weston/sway allow to drag the icon around, kwin/mutter seem to freeze the cursor until the button is released

<vyivel>
smithay forbids the grab as well: "denying drag from client without implicit grab"

Max1: should be a pretty trivial patch to pass it through from the command line
