<driver1998> it looks like debian testing is still at mesa 23.3.5, I guess I should try sid for a newer mesa to be sure

<driver1998> public EL2?
<driver1998> cool
<driver1998> but why Windows still need that secure launch crap

<exeat> No leaks of a new fanless thinkpad yet :-/
<\[m]> t14s!! I was right lol
<\[m]> looks like same trackpad ☹️
<\[m]> how do you know there's fans, because of the grills you assume?
<exeat> Yep

rfs613- is now known as rfs613
<rfs613> is there a currently recommended boot image for X13s? Seems I managed to break mine by doing 'apt upgrade' (on debian 11)... doesn't seem to get past EFI shim, no kernel output visible.

<krzk> rfs613: Ubuntu 24.04 comes with x13s support, so maybe that one would work for you?

<HdkR> yay broken pac
<maz> broken firmware, rather... :-/
* travmurav[m] still wonders if it's hyp or tz that breaks it
<travmurav[m]> I think I asked but I don't remember if someone confirmed it still being broken when booting at el2
<maz> if it is still broken while booting at EL2, then it is EL3 that fscked it up.
<travmurav[m]> right, thanks
<travmurav[m]> ah "if"
* travmurav[m] failed to read
<strongtz[m]> <strongtz[m]> "1000003644.jpg" <- I tried this EL2 config just now, it just goes to crashdump after ExitBS lol
<travmurav[m]> inb4 it includes slbounce but there is no tcblaunch.exe
<strongtz[m]> ah you mean the qualcomm FW includes slbounce?
<travmurav[m]> I have no idea but it was a joke that the (2) would just run slbounce code to elevate via SL
<strongtz[m]> yeah I might try slbounce on it later lol
<travmurav[m]> sltest should be easy, I'd appreciate to know :D
<travmurav[m]> last time I've looked at exelite hyp, it included the same securelaunch code
<travmurav[m]> (shoehorned into gunyah that is, which I found funny but completely expected)
<travmurav[m]> but I have an impression they've shoehorned a lot of old hyp stuff into gunyah so as expected the thing is "open core" kind of a software I guess

<strongtz[m]> travmurav: it got stuck unfortunately
<travmurav[m]> no green pixels top left?
<travmurav[m]> sad
<strongtz[m]> nope
<travmurav[m]> well, not unexpected I guess, something new might have changed still
laine has joined #aarch64-laptops
<strongtz[m]> if I select the EL2 config in the firmware menu, it crashes after displaying the same thing
<travmurav[m]> because sltest calls ebs
<travmurav[m]> so I guess same exact crash as with linux
<travmurav[m]> uh
<travmurav[m]> what is this tcblaunch exe from?
<strongtz[m]> windows build 26085
<travmurav[m]> can you try the one that was uploaded here before?
<travmurav[m]> ah wait
<travmurav[m]> no
<travmurav[m]> nvm
<travmurav[m]> well I guess still could but that's probably not it
<travmurav[m]> I'm a bit sleepy and I didn't see something but it shouldn't be there anyway
<strongtz[m]> well I have to sleep now indeed, it's late here
<travmurav[m]> strongtz: but I assume you had 0=windows when testing?
<travmurav[m]> maybe uefi doesn't do the pas magic to register acpi with hyp when (1)=linux is picked
<travmurav[m]> but there probably many more things to go wrong there sadly

<\[m]> nice, the samsung galaxy book arrived, doesn t power up and screen is cracked ☹️
<HdkR> "lightly used."
<\[m]> it has a little sticker (no pwr) and seems to have been in a repair flow, it has some repair number sticker and seemed to be destined for "storage"

<\[m]> eeeh let's dump extra money in 150 euro laptop mm
<\[m]> e-waste 11
<\[m]> * e-waste 101
<jglathe_volterra> I will need a good excuse for the X1337 laptop that's kinda manifesting in my future
<jglathe_volterra> "the X13s is so small" will not cut it
<\[m]> you mean t1437s 😄
<jglathe_volterra> yeah
<jglathe_volterra> only 2 grand for new shiny
<\[m]> you know the price?
<\[m]> I'd buy it to kind of vote with money or some stupid idea 😉
<jglathe_volterra> new shiny costs 2 grand, sort of
<abby> 2k is a typical price
<\[m]> but I'm highly traumatised by computer fan noise with my work laptop
<jglathe_volterra> Oh I can feel, Tinnitus. Every constant whiny noise brings out the beast
<\[m]> i thought that's inverse, you need some noise to not hear it
<jglathe_volterra> sorta lucky with my HP ProBook 455 G8, sorta silent-ish most of the time
possiblemeatball has joined #aarch64-laptops
<jglathe_volterra> variable, stress-induced or whatever. anyway, have to live with it, silence is best when I need to do stuff
<jglathe_volterra> and I love those silent boxes. The Turing Pi 2 cluster is most of the time silent, the X13s is, the Volterra boxes are. bliss.
<jglathe_volterra> I hear it all the time, q is if its noticeable and distracts me.
<jglathe_volterra> the unbelievably noisy T420s of 2012 and the even louder U745 (Fujitsu) of 2015 cured me from buying laptops for a while. Being traumatized by it hits the nail on the head
