<gabertron> ay!!!!! Congrats great work
<gabertron> Gotta dust off my 64GB OLED t14s now
<steev> nice
<steev> konradybcio: so, the flex5g *does* boot with it applied, but only 1 of the mmus has it applied?
<steev> https://dpaste.com/DBQY7CCMV the full dmesg
<steev> oh duh, it's only for the apps_smmu, i need to look closer at the code sometimes :)
<steev> hm, i'm noticing, the sc8280xp uses gpu_smmu instead of adreno_smmu, does anyone happen to know if that is on purpose?

<SpieringsAE> So I was wondering just now, there was no boot option selection in the firmware of my asus vivobook. What happens if your EFI partition gets borked? Does it have an automatic usb boot fallback mode?
<steev> what do you mean no boot option selection?
<SpieringsAE> Also does anyone know if rEFInd works with dtbs?
<SpieringsAE> well normally on a pc when you go into the firmware you can configure the boot order and see usb devices
<abby> the EFI specification says to default to \EFI\BOOT\BOOTAA64.EFI
<SpieringsAE> on my asus I had to boot into usb from the windows boot manager
<abby> so you can put your bootloader of choice there and it should default to it even if boot entries get messed up
<SpieringsAE> I mean EFI is completely borked you cannot boot from local disk anymore, so now local bootloader
<SpieringsAE> s/now/no
<SpieringsAE> EFI partition I mean
<steev> sounds like asus doing asus things
<SpieringsAE> do the others have proper boot selection in the firmware?
<steev> i don't have an x1e device so i can't say, but the thinkpad x13s does
<SpieringsAE> ah okay
<JosDehaes[m]> on the yoga, you can press F12 and a boot menu shows up, I heard on other devices too
<steev> i think they mean inside the bios itself
<SpieringsAE> yeah
<steev> (but yes the X13s has both)
<SpieringsAE> I only have that menu from the point the windows boot manager launches
<SpieringsAE> can go into firmware settings from there
<JosDehaes[m]> ah, in the BIOS on the yoga you can set boot order, but the boot entry must already be there
<SpieringsAE> but a USB will show up there?
<JosDehaes[m]> no
<steev> oh, wait, hm, actually, yeah, i was gonna say, i don't think you can edit the boot options themselves... i'd need to take a look but i'm in the middle of compiling a pi kernel so i can't reboot
<JosDehaes[m]> only at boot when you press F12
<SpieringsAE> interesting
<SpieringsAE> I'm trying to get the lftp thing to work do download the history of the channel, but it gives me 401 unauthorized errors the command I run is: lftp -c 'mirror https://oftc.irclog.whitequark.org/aarch64-laptops/index/'
<JensGlathe[m]> <SpieringsAE> "do the others have proper boot..." <- yes. If you know the hotkey (F9 for hp) definitely.
<SpieringsAE> perhaps I just dont know the key for the asus then, sadly I don't have it anymore to test, returned when the 32gig ram version was anounced
<JensGlathe[m]> It even has a "boot from efi file" option with all available partitions (with odd names, but it is good if you do research)
<SpieringsAE> 16 gigs of ram feels like way to little for a machine like that
<SpieringsAE> when the 32 gig version actually comes out I will try it out, thanks!
<JensGlathe[m]> Arrow saying they estimate ship and delivery today 🤔Hypersonic transport, nice
<SpieringsAE> oh the devkit actually exists
<JensGlathe[m]> I heard of it
<SpieringsAE> Im still curious about whats up with the hdmi port
<JensGlathe[m]> speculations say FCC approval
<SpieringsAE> If those things actually start appearing, might get one of those instead of the new 32 gig asus

<miki> hey guys I got ubuntu running on my t14 g6 few days ago, but I struggle with sound in device tree, anyone had any luck making it work ?
<steev> all of the bits aren't in place for audio yet, afaik
<miki> o ok damn I was hoping that when its working on ref devices it will work on lenovo also, no point trying more than I guess: I got [ 13.030037] platform sound: deferred probe pending: snd-x1e80100: WSA Playback: error getting cpu dai name
<miki> in dmesg even tried to debug drivers but it looks like wont go past qcom_snd_parse_of
<miki> thanks steev for info
<steev> konradybcio: i get a blue screen... so i'm assuming that's the wonderful new bluescreen the kernel has now - but there is zero information on it. (and a little while later it just reboots)

<craftyguy> how can I tell if the kernel pd-mapper thing is working properly in 6.11 on the x13s?
<steev> the power light will blink 3 times if you plug or unplug it. the audio will work
<steev> just make sure you don't have pd-mapper service running

<qzed> nullbyt: konradybcio sorry I'm late to the party... there's no direct fan control on the SL7, but you can change platform profiles (which is supported as ACPI platform profile so that would have to be adapted for DTS I guess), which does influence the fan curve

<steev> i definitely wait for rc1, rc0 is still getting patches in
<steev> that said... 6.11 panicked on my x13s but no idea why, it was fairly idle (a vim window open over ssh)
<steev> wasn't trying to suspend or anything, i just came back inside from taking a break and it's sitting there with the camera led blinking (which signals kernel panic)
<steev> sadly, the log doesn't seem to show anything but journalclt -b-1 shows the last entry at 16:42 which was 22 minutes ago
