Mac Mini M1 having Linux can become a good machine to run those models because you have a good GPU and accelerator and RAM for just 700$ compared to the performance. In the coming years it may cost less

I mentioned that in the FLOSS Weekly interview; Macs used to be "fancy expensive" computers but the low end of the M1 line is suddenly actually good value
<marcan>
alyssa, yuni: don't you two go fighting, or I'm going to have to start using ChanServ :p

Bunch of unknown fields that are changing with complex shaders. Somehow.

Seemingly these three bits get set if the shader is bigger than 0x40 bytes? wat?
<alyssa>
That's a cache line, I guess.
<alyssa>
oh, only one bit, I screwed something up
<alyssa>
I bet this is i-cache related
<alyssa>
this encoding puts a limit of 4KiB on shader size. hm. odd.
<alyssa>
probably diff encoding
<alyssa>
argh
<alyssa>
so this "more than 4 textures" is actually "big shader" bit
<alyssa>
here's no textures and still getting set, ugh

<alyssa> "And see them as mostly orthogona..." <- Hello from the little overlap of these userbases! Thank you so much for the outstanding work you put in both Panfrost and AGX, I'm eagerly awaiting for proper GPU support for Rockchip chips, and also happened to buy an Apple Silicon Mac to eventually put Linux on it!
<simjnd[m]>
Feels like cheating because regardless of which project you invest time in, I win, so thanks again! (And thank you also for your amazing blog posts, it's most likely a ton of additional work, and they're a blast to read I'm always stoked when I see you post)

not that it's any of my business but how does one accidentally tab complete and then type a heart, lol
<alyssa>
simjnd[m]: thank you for the kind words, though :)
