I don't quite have *every* machine - at least not every configuration :-)

the main thing I've been relying on others for so far is 10GE Mac Mini, which I don't have, though I'm thinking of getting one

just kind of wondering if I should wait for the next gen to hopefully be released with the same NIC as an option

there are definitely subtleties, e.g. spending money on the storage for the M1 Max was a good idea because that actually enables the secondary apcie_st block, which means NVMe worked on the Pro but not the Max when I was doing that wrong

that kind of thing is why I also don't just get the base model of everything (nor max out everything - need to cover the space)

jannau / sven / kettenis: certain storage options should only have 4 chips, higher ones have 8. each aPCIE block is 4 x1 links, so 4 chips. the chips themselves have embedded (simpler) controllers and speak non-NVMe PCIe, ANS2 then pools them into a single storage volume and I think also handles the FTL and such

it's Alyssa's dcp driver I jsut made sure it compiles on top of the asahi branch. I'm not sure which dcp firmware it expects. with macos 11.5 and 11.6 it crashes the coprocessor on sddm start
