Usually with these kinds of projects, what gets done is what people like to get working first. In this case, apparently there were multiple people who wanted to work on the GPU but nobody was interested in the microphone.

So yesterday I asked about nested virtualization on macOS, but really the goal is just to have one machine with a linux OS capable of virtualization, and a macOS installation that doesn't necessarily need virtualization. Is it feasible to virtualize a macOS guest under an asahi host?

Hey, I just saw the speakersafetyd thing. I'm sure this has been discussed already, but is there any documentation or TL;DR on why this was done in user space instead of in the kernel driver? Seems like it'd be easier to guarantee safety in the kernel.
