<danvet>
daniels, so how do we do the drm-tip thing for shuffling all the repos over again?
<danvet>
I think aside from permissions for that it's all there
<danvet>
dim supports a list of upstream for a repo, so we just add the gitlab ones ahead
<danvet>
and if people try to push drop a nice server-side message to their client that they should update their remote for pushing
<danvet>
so I think that's all good, and it's just the drm-tip thing
<danvet>
little script? world write access? the groups (but that seems cumbersome)?
<danvet>
script that goes through a repo list and takes everyone with developer or higher membership and adds them to drm-tip is probably simplest
<danvet>
also we can move drm.git right away since there's no permission problems, and that could lead to a bit of server load testing?
<danvet>
airlied, ^^ ?

<daniels>
you can add members of a group to repo permissions now
<daniels>
so I think the thing to do is to have drm-misc, drm-intel, etc be groups, and add those to both the individual repos as well as drm-tip

<danvet>
daniels, oh nice, I'll try that out and set up some structure I guess
<danvet>
hm maybe I'm not awake
<danvet>
the group thing is kinda the paperwork I'd like to avoid
<danvet>
because it makes navigating stuff more tricky and people will still just apply for the repo itself

<gkiagia>
I got this MR on wireplumber https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/wireplumber/-/merge_requests/481 that I have been trying to merge for a couple of days now and every time I try to rebase it, I get a message "Something went wrong. Please try again"... I don't see anything wrong with the branch or the commit, so I don't see why it can't be rebased?
<gkiagia>
I thought it could be some temporary failure on gitlab, so I am literally trying every day to do it, at different times, but it doesn't work
<daniels>
gkiagia: hmmm, the rebase worked fine here, and I can't see any job failures which would explain that :\
<daniels>
oh I see
<daniels>
gkiagia: they didn't check the 'Allow commits from members who can merge to the target branch' checkbox, which is required for rebases to succeed
<daniels>
(it wfm because I'm an admin)
<gkiagia>
hmm, iirc this was reflected differently in the UI in the past
<gkiagia>
I think the rebase button was not even visible and it would tell you that you can't rebase
<gkiagia>
"Something went wrong, please try again" is just weird
<gkiagia>
anyway, thanks!
<daniels>
agree

Hey! is there chance that developers of well known projects could get whitelisted to not have to fill captcha? With no-script it's even more annoying now (usually for issues/MR with links inside).
