<whot> ok, we're now 36k spam users less
<whot> we should really have a cron job that warns us when the same domain creates more than 50 accounts in a few days

<karolherbst> whot: do you also have a script to mass delete users? Those accounts with those suspicous looking domains are indeed causing spam (and thereforce reports to the coc team)
<whot> karolherbst: the mass deletions are done via the gitlab ruby console, there's no real script
<karolherbst> mhhh
<whot> you could do the same via the REST api, but deleting 20k users via REST is going to be a bit boring
<karolherbst> yeah....
<karolherbst> well.. I don't mind to drop a list of domains to delete now and then, but we really should automate analysing this stuff anyway
<whot> we should keep the domain list in a git repo too so some accidental copy/paste doesn't wipe them
<karolherbst> yeah
<karolherbst>
<karolherbst> ehh, sorry
<whot> hmm, from what I remember we get a webhook for user creation because we run damspam sanitize-profile in response to that
<whot> we can extend that to check for a domain denylist and immediately block users
<whot> although once we have the list we might as well just block the domain in gitlab, I guess
<karolherbst> there is an option for that in gitlab already
<karolherbst> ohh, you mean damspam
<karolherbst> I thought based on domains
<whot> you can block signups, but doing that doesn't block the users already in the system
<karolherbst> yeah.. but those we should just delete anyway
<karolherbst> we should just delete all users on the domain denylist
<karolherbst> should be easy to do
<whot> we have a purge command already, we just need to extend that

<kbingham> pinchartl, did you look any more into the "Currently unable to fetch data for this pipeline" issue? Is it just us ? or is it affecting other repositories?
<kbingham> aha - I can answer that myself by looking at mesa ;-) (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/pipelines/1230089)
<pinchartl> kbingham: I don't see the issue right now with that link
<pinchartl> it seems to be transient
<kbingham> oh - I see it on /every/ pipeline I look at.
<kbingham> I guess I lose a lot of races :-(

<whot> oh ffs, apparently deleting a spam user through the abuse reports interface no longer removes their contributions, leaving the spam up
<whot> it was hard to make the abuse report interface worse than it was but hooray, it was possible after all
