<KREYREN_oftc>
so replacing the chip gives me another try then?
<apritzel>
not even sure this is really "secure", as IIRC we found bugs in at least the H6 BROM, allowing loading unsigned SPLs
<KREYREN_oftc>
and the BROM can't be fixed and patched right? (afaik the A64 has the BROM available)
<apritzel>
the BootROM(BROM) is a mask-programmed ROM inside every Allwinner SoC, so it's fixed in the fab (in the metal layer masks, I believe)
<KREYREN_oftc>
Maybe the A64-H has that addressed?
<apritzel>
what addressed?
<KREYREN_oftc>
or you think that allwinner just took the old chip design and put that in a better package to withstand higher and lower temps?
<KREYREN_oftc>
like the potential BROM vulnerability
<apritzel>
as far as we know, the A64-H is just a rename, to signify that is has HDMI output capability
* KREYREN_oftc
though that the point of that chip was that it can withstand temperatures better
<KREYREN_oftc>
is that A127 any better? I am messing with SOM designs rn
<apritzel>
I would really be surprised if there is *any* difference between those two chips, at least when it comes to silicon and metal layer masks. Maybe they changed the packaging, but who knows
<apritzel>
what's the A127?
<KREYREN_oftc>
Oh A527
* KREYREN_oftc
is confusing that with riscv
<apritzel>
better how? Secure boot? I think that's still the same story
<apritzel>
Otherwise the A527 is of course better in almost every aspect, since it's just a chip released like 8 years later

tokyovigilante: Sorry for the misunderstanding. I said that on one device with h616 hdmi works for me, but on the other it doesn’t work. It wasn't about hdmi not working at all.
<Parthiban>
apritzel: When the SPL is started from eMMC, I see messages in the UART. But not the case when started in FEL mode, so I assumed that SPL wasn't started. u-boot from vendor seems missing eGON header in my end.
<Parthiban>
apritzel: Otherwise, yes I understand your remaining points. If I have a running u-boot, then I will have more control towards preparing rest of the system.
<junari>
Is it possible to somehow control the load on the Panfrost GPU?
