mrkiko: or maybe was it 2 years ago, maintainers of projects were spammed with a ton of often broken pull requests, by people just wanting to get T-shirts

on the bright side, they were obvious and it was a very short term thing :)
<Habbie>
this year, two PRs that marked "spam" will disqualify somebody for a shirt
<Habbie>
a few years ago we got PRs that literally said "just here for the t-shirt"
<mrnuke_>
svanheule: I would love to test it. Just been extremely busy lately

stintel: time permitting, also a testing suggestion for you (assuming you can easily set up IPsec): https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/10814 should provide HW accel for AES on your GS108Tv3
<stintel>
svanheule: not anytime soon I'm afraid
<svanheule>
stintel: np, just checking O:-)
<stintel>
svanheule: but thanks for the heads up
<stintel>
at some point I might need to get a beefy rtl switch
<stintel>
or 2, or 4 😂

Hrm just saw an openwrt video. Dude claims Fujitsu S920 is a great OpenWrt unit.
<Mangix>
And forums say it suffers from random reset. I smell bad power supply.

Mangix: afaik those issues were in combination with the quadcore version AND an addon 4-port intel 1000BASE-T network card in a PCIe riser, so very likely PSU or power distribution on the mainboard, which has never been designed with that in mind
<slh>
Cyberoam CR25iNG would be the same quad-core AMD Jaguar CPU, probably a better option (and effectively cheaper than adding a 4-port card to an s920 or an APU2)
<slh>
next to the other usual suspects from gateprotect, sophos, barracuda and the watchguard >= m400
<Habbie>
the s920 also looks like a great home assistant device
<Habbie>
what a cute box
<slh>
quite a few of the newer thinclients are x86_64 based and may be interesting for many tasks
<Mangix>
Habbie: indeed
<Habbie>
it's not a fast box, but amd64 is nice and convenient for many tasks
<Mangix>
I currently use an mvebu based device
<Habbie>
looks like a real contender for the pi4 you can't buy anyway
<Mangix>
With the HQ container

ah
<[Pokey]>
Just got my Archer C2 and put OpenWRT onto it. Happy so far, except it isn't DSA and it also shows switch0 which appears to be a spoof/ghost switch?
<PaulFertser>
switch0 is likely an swconfig device you can manage with "swconfig" utility.
<[Pokey]>
what does it do though?
<[Pokey]>
Theres a switch1 which is an RTL8367B and is configured by default
<[Pokey]>
switch0 is unconfigured
<PaulFertser>
Ah, ok then, no idea.
<[Pokey]>
"Switch switch0 has an unknown topology - the VLAN settings might not be accurate."
<PaulFertser>
Probably a SoC-integrated switch which is unused because it wasn't enough for the purpose.
<[Pokey]>
Thats a shame
<[Pokey]>
Wonder if this thing could be reconfigured for DSA... Wouldn't know where to start with doing that
<slh>
ah, no RTL8367RB and mt7620a, then realtek_smi
goliath has quit [Quit: SIGSEGV]

no, you'd have to take a look into realtek_smi and the corresponding dts changes

Not all realtek switches support DSA
<[Pokey]>
Mangix: Huh, I thought it was OS-Level. Makes me curious why OpenWRT didn't support DSA from the start if it was a hardware supported feature
<Mangix>
DSA is a kernel framework. It was not always available. swconfig predates DSA

and you need driver support for DSA... It's not as simple as 'just' supporting it

Yea I'm actually not sure how you said it should be achieved now. Both adding a VLAN virtual ethernet to the original interface doesn't work (which makes sense, I know you said it became deaf) and to the bridge interface doesn't work either
