<[Pokey]>
How kind of ZyXEL to presolder a UART pin header on here too.
<[Pokey]>
so, I suppose I should ask, am I stupid for wanting to put OpenWrt onto a NAS which has ethernet and no WiFi + 2 USB3.0 + 1 USB2.0 + 2 SATA + RTC?
<robimarko>
You will find a bunch of Marvell Kirkwood based NAS-es with OpenWrt
<[Pokey]>
Well then.
<[Pokey]>
I have my next target
<[Pokey]>
I have had this box since 2019 and I have been trying to break into the stock firmware

it ended up in a drawer long before i got interested in openwrt, so i should probably dig it up :)

NSA320 is closeish to the NAS326 I think
<[Pokey]>
Why one is called NSA and the other is called NAS I do not know
<[Pokey]>
Regardless! I wanna do it

could be a complex little target. If the existing ones are anything to go by, might need custom uboot
<[Pokey]>
ooo but if I mess it up, it should have UART boot for recovery

my 310 once stopped working, so i attached serial, then it booted again
<Habbie>
i decided it was flaky and replaced it ;)
<[Pokey]>
Habbie: It is possible connecting serial kicked it, because I know these things are fussy about serial. On my 326, it can sometimes refuse to boot with serial connected
<f00b4r0>
robimarko: they significantly changed the PCB layout from what was described on KS. Most notable, the M2 sata slot now only has a post at the longest length
<[Pokey]>
I can only guess it has something to do with the UART boot on the marvell chip
<Habbie>
[Pokey], that sounds weird, it can barely know there's something on the other side

f00b4r0: Is there a revision on it?
<[Pokey]>
It is the case, and I think it has also been documented on the doozan forum, so I am not the only one
<Habbie>
[Pokey], ack
<karlp>
some of them have bad pullups, and and dangling cables get treated as "hit any key to interrupt boot" and they just sit there at uboot forever...
<Habbie>
karlp, oh right, that makes sense
<f00b4r0>
V1-5-0
<[Pokey]>
karlp: Not even U-Boot
<karlp>
no idea about the board in question, but genercally..
<[Pokey]>
Doesn't even make it to U-Boot
<robimarko>
f00b4r0: Then its much newer than what I have
<robimarko>
I think I have v1.1
<[Pokey]>
Because it doesn't reach u-boot, I come to my conclusion that it can only be a weird implementation artifact of marvell's UART boot recovery
<f00b4r0>
robimarko: none of the slots/connectors are identified in a human-friendly way no silkscreen :P
<[Pokey]>
Habbie: The NSA320 is Kirkwood apparently, and since this is mvebu, I am hoping it both retains that UART recovery, but also does not need a replacement bootloader
<f00b4r0>
robimarko: thanks. Also outdated but thanks still :)
<f00b4r0>
Borromini: case looks ok. They redesigned it and are now using an aluminum base that serves as heatsink. I miss a wallmount kit tbh
<Borromini>
:)
<robimarko>
f00b4r0: You are gonna have to contact them
<robimarko>
I am sure they have it uploaded somewhere, but not publicly listed anywhere
<f00b4r0>
robimarko: I posted on the KS just now. We'll see if I have to try harder :)
<robimarko>
f00b4r0: Let me know if they dont reply, I will ping somebody from GS directly

Oh no, cause microUSB is console
<f00b4r0>
console, as in raw rs232 signals??

No, there was a PL2303 on my board

ok, hence my surprise that when I connect to that port I see now tty device enumerating on my computer

no*
<f00b4r0>
ugh it needs an extra driver on macos :P

ok it's ubuntu indeed

robimarko: one of the NIC's MAC doesn't match sticker (is in fact duplicate of another NIC). Bodes well ;P
<robimarko>
Which one?
<robimarko>
It could be the combo one
<f00b4r0>
eth2
<f00b4r0>
i see they've setup a bond
<f00b4r0>
the default network is weird
<robimarko>
Ubuntu or OpenWrt?
<f00b4r0>
ubuntu. I'm taking a look around before I try something else :)
<f00b4r0>
robimarko: amusingly, the wiki getting started tutorial shows a capture with the exact same eth2 MAC == eth0 MAC issue ;P
<ynezz>
Habbie: I assume its filtered out as it's default dependency and you can't upgrade it?
<Habbie>
might be
<Habbie>
it being a default dependency of packages also looks like mistake to me

I'm creating patches to add the SiFive Unmatched to OpenWRT. Is there a way pull down & use the u-boot & kernel patches from the SiFive github as part of the OpenWRT build? Right now I'm copying the SiFive patches, and gets a bit complicated if I were to submit someone else's patch

I did. Turns out it's due to -Pn not doing what I think it does. Target host is reachable via alias IP, seems like it throws nmap off the scent. Solved with "--disable-arp-ping"

there is basic support for the 6 and 60 GHz bands in package/kernel/mac80211/files/lib/netifd/wireless/mac80211.sh and package/kernel/mac80211/files/lib/wifi/mac80211.sh, support for wil6210 60G and mt76 supports 6G devices, afaik
