<slh> there's more expensive wifi6e gear, like 10-times+ more expensive
<slh> in practice, there's not that much to be gained from wifi6e - shorter range, in combination with the typical 2x2 clients not that much more performance either (although performance is a bit more steadily staying on the upper end than on 5 GHz wifi6). in congested areas being early to the party and the short range will be beneficial nevertheless
<slh> for the right price (and 150 bucks is quite reasonable), that can be useful

<slh> well, I wouldn't exactly replace a working wifi6 router just for wifi6e (not at current prices)
<slh> and you're paying for it twice, once at the cash register, another time on you electricty bill
<Mangix> wifi 6e is probably meh
<Mangix> few supported devices, higher frequency
<Mangix> probably better to stay on 5 with DFS as nobody uses those bands
<Mangix> *6 with 5ghz
<\x> I wonder how will an ipq60x8 will handle that 4x4 160MHz radio though
schwicht has joined #openwrt-devel
<slh> that's indeed gonna be interesting
<slh> although, 4*1.8 GHz isn't that much less than 4*2.2 GHz
<slh> (not to speak about the remaining NSS core used by the OEM firmwares)

<\x> yeah stintel
<\x> and currently spatial reuse is only usable on 6G. cant really pull off that on 2.4 and 5Ghz as long as theres still something legacy on that channel haha. why no greenfield mode on wifi 6 bruh
<\x> though I guess 6GHz is basically its greenfield

<robimarko> \x: You can read through the AX3600 thread
<robimarko> But so far it looks regulatory related, as they finally started providing a generic external regulatory database
<robimarko> So that regulatory can be updated without having to update the BDF
<robimarko> And they also removed the in-firmware regulatory fallback
<robimarko> So devices that have no regulatory in BDF are having FW crashes without the external regulatory
<\x> so now you can kinda override whatever the internal regdb is on them?
<\x> thats hella nice
<robimarko> Yeah, its even supposed to override based on the regdb.bin settings
<robimarko> But without turning the regulatory in BDF it doesnt seem to do it currently
<robimarko> This appears to work for all devices except for Redmi AX6 which always crashes on 2.7
<\x> currently to make wifi work on mrnuke's work, I have to rollback to that 2.5
<robimarko> But we have to wait until QCA pushes the regulatory binary public
<\x> that works fine but yeah once I use that 2.7 one, nope, it wont even boot sometimes
<\x> robimarko: so how it works on 2.7 is that it will still flag itself as self managed but you can inject something on it? thats the theory aye
<robimarko> It is still self-managed, but it can be easily updated as they roll out regulatory updates
<robimarko> Just replace the binary for all devices and thats it
bluew has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<robimarko> You cant inject anything without the tools to unpack the regdb, which only come in the latest QSDK
<\x> how about usb on these? I cant make usb work on 5.15 it seems, it lacks a driver aye?
<\x> on qsdk they have that "kmod-usb-phy-msm"
<robimarko> I havent tried 5.15, but on 6.1 it worked
<\x> can I just use the 807x one on 60xx?
<\x> 6.1 is out?
<\x> oh nevermind, rc's.
<\x> robimarko: also seems to me that you cant just spread edma interrupts evenly
<\x> it bugs out after sometime
<\x> but its fine if like you put all of them on a free core
<\x> robimarko: and yeah youre right, its not doing gigacake with that cut down nss, at best on "mrnuke/openwrt/tree/ipq6018-devel", I get 470~480Mbps cake
<\x> codel and normal routing will do gigabit easy though
<\x> so its either theres magic on qsdk or cake just didnt work on that

<\x> robimarko: are there patches needed for 6.1 on 60xx, I want to have a go at it
<robimarko> \x: Nope, I am slowly working on linux-next to sort out basic stuff
<\x> Ill just wait for you guys then
<robimarko> Its gonna be a long wait
<\x> but yeah so far on 60xx, minus usb, everything works on 5.15
<\x> wifi still isnt optimal but hell yeah it werks
<robimarko> That 5.15 OpenWr tree works, but its a mess
<robimarko> Bunch of patches just made to apply from QCA 5.4 tree
<robimarko> Especially clocks
<\x> this thing uses a 24MHz clock and derives everything from that it seems
<\x> a lot of plls, so for example they just 2x that clock for 48MHz usb soemthing like that

<karlp> is there any reason to remove these expired certs? surely they just take up a miniscule amount of disk space? is this peter guy just trying to stop bad code from not actually looking at the certs? they should all be ignoring the cert based on being expired anyway right?
