<flowriser> Besides marcan and the Linux Foundation videos (like this https://youtu.be/WLBzl1AyJog) where can I find more resources on how to bring up Linux? Books and written resources are even more appreciated

<steev> oh, vinod maintains soundwire, maybe i should poke him about why it's sometimes.... wonky
<flowriser> I think I'm willing to get a job at Qualcomm in order to get access to the device sheets of the 8cx gen 2, create the kernel drivers in my spare time then quit just to make linux work on my laptop :D
<flowriser> Or at acer
<flowriser> But to be honest it has been quite fun so far
<bamse> flowriser: perhaps i can pay you for the effort?
<flowriser> bamse, so nice of you to offer! Thanks, but I am tied at a startup atm and honestly I don't think I have much experience with kernel development. For example, I have no idea where to start to modify the lenovo flex dtb to work on my machine; But I am willing to learn, just don't know where to find resources
<flowriser> Currently I am watching marcan bringing up linux and trying to soak everything he does, but M1s are so different :D
<flowriser> Hah, just had the realization that the ACPI tables are somewhat readable and I can use them to create the dts file. This keeps getting better and better :D
<bamse> flowriser: :)
<bamse> flowriser: yeah, the m1 is very different...i don't expect there's much you can reuse from that effort
<bamse> flowriser: and yes, while the acpi tables are a pain to read they do contain a lot of information
<flowriser> bamse, I do like the process though; For example, having serial in order to faster debug stuff
<bamse> flowriser: generally i can do platform stuff off teh qualcomm documentation, but use acpi tables for the product-specific stuff
<bamse> flowriser: yeah, i wish we had that one the production devices as well...
<flowriser> bamse, qualcomm has documentation? :D
<bamse> flowriser: :)
<flowriser> bamse, is there anything available for the 8cx gen 2? Where can I take a look?
<flowriser> Do I have to email them?
<robclark> I've lost track, but I thought 8cx gen2 should be pretty similar to gen1 (ie. mostly a speed bump)?
<flowriser> robclark, yes, mostly the same; I got it running with a gen1 dtb
<steev> vkoul: do you happen to know what would be causing this - https://paste.debian.net/1227735/ - whenever this happens, audio doesn't work, and it usually happens for a couple boots before correcting itself and working
