ChanServ changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630)
<robclark> yeah, but kinda assume they use FD to locate the fact and then feed that part of the image to magic AI thing?
<robclark> s/fact/face/
<broonie> Can also get used to drive autofocus on the camera.
<flowriser> To me it seems that it is packed full of features that mostly no one actually uses xD

<flowriser> There are also some references to some All-Ways Aware Hub; and when searching to see what that is: "in this next stage, you won't even need to interact with your phone, because it will already know what you need"
<flowriser> So right now I'm getting very dystopian vibes from my laptop

<steev> flowriser: all-ways aware hub is what it uses to tell if it's in tablet mode on windows
<steev> i *think*
<flowriser> good god what have I gotten myself into
<robclark> I guess "all-ways aware hub" is just fancy name for sensor-hub.. which is presumably also used to adjust wifi power levels and things like that?
<flowriser> Probably so, 5g+wifi+sensors

<bamse> robclark: i believe the fd block has been there for at least 10 years now, so broonie's suggestion is very reasonable
<bamse> robclark: i don't think there's any direct relationship between the sensor core and the wifi firmware...but there's at least in the path been pieces in the linux code to pass along such information
<bamse> robclark: in particular information about the user's proximity and logic that would limit tx power of the radios
<bamse> flowriser: 5g and wifi are dealt with by separate parts of the chip, and in particular anything that's wifi6 tends to sit externally on pcie
<bamse> flowriser: the typical use case for the always-on subsystem is android's sensor hub...which can gather sensor input while the main cpus are powered down, for indoor nativation and the like
<robclark> bamse: right, I don't think there is any back-channel communication to modem.. but sensors are used to detect proximity and adjust tx power accordingly.. there are regulatory SAR limits (AFAIU)
<robclark> I guess if you are blasting out TX then using the sensor hub to save power maybe doesn't matter so much.. but it seems like a thing the sensor hub could do
<bamse> robclark: might have changed, but when i looked at that stuff last time i was actually dealt with in the android HAL
<bamse> robclark: long time ago though, so it might very well have changed

<flowriser> Dear people, stay away from web development cause it will eat away your free time to compile the linux kernel! Be aware that if you do web dev, you will have to pair code with seniors more than you do with the juniors on your team. You have been warned! :D
<amstan> flowriser: horrible world, lol

<hightower2> Hey is there a way to do a full reinstall of windows on Asus NovaGo? When I was deleting the linux partition I forgot to revert the bootloader stuff and it made windows unbootable
<hightower2> Also I had no luck with the .iso created from UUP dumps, it boots the stick but it just keeps suggesting me that I reboot... it doesn't start any install (I think the dumps are for updates, not for a clean reinstall anyway?)
