robclark changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Chrome OS Trogdor Devices - Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630 - Lenovo ThinkPad X13s - and various other snapdragon laptops) - https://oftc.irclog.whitequark.org/aarch64-laptops
<steev>
i just don't particularly like that form factor, so i won't be
<steev>
my plan is to (eventually) get a T14s
<HdkR>
The T14s shop page got mangled yesterday so I got my hopes up that they were adding configurations. Nope. Disappointed
<clee>
my only real complaints about the Yoga overall are: the left/right buttons are double the size of the up/down buttons, and the pinhole "BIOS" button on the bottom shell. but being able to use F12 for "boot menu" has made the second one less painful.
<steev>
now that it's not preorder, the fnf discount applies, but i still wanna see how much the 64GB version will be first
<clee>
seems like the arrow key size thing is endemic to the whole lineup
<steev>
f12 for bios has been pretty standard on lenovo for a while
<steev>
wait, are you saying f2 won't get you into bios but f12 will get you boot menu?
<clee>
I didn't try F2, I tried Esc and F1 and neither of those worked
<steev>
try f2
<clee>
I can try F2, one moment
<clee>
huh, F2 totally works. why didn't they document that in the menu with the "use the button through this pinhole to access the BIOS" section?
<clee>
*manual, not menu
<steev>
lordy
<clee>
well, that completely removes the need to ever use that pinhole button, so now my complaint is just the arrow keys. the T14s keyboard *does* look a bit better…
<steev>
the t14s is your standard thinkpad keyboard
<clee>
sure looks like it
<HdkR>
Pretty much the only thing I dislike about thinkpad layout is the pageup and pagedown buttons. I always configure those to be disabled so I don't accidentally touch them
<steev>
that's fair
<steev>
i've definitely tapped them a time or two when i haven't meant to
<HdkR>
I am glad they fixed the fn/ctrl layout from X13s to T14s as well. That one wasn't great
<HdkR>
X13s at least had the BIOS option to fix that
<steev>
as someone who has a c630, flex5g and x13s... it annoys me that only 2 of them match keyboard layout of the fn/ctrl keys
<HdkR>
:D
<HdkR>
Apple also messes up the fn/ctrl layout and there's a config to fix it on their end as well
<HdkR>
It gets /really/ confusing when switching between MacOS and a VM when ctrl, fn, and super are all shuffling around
<steev>
god yes
<steev>
i was doing my performance regression work in vms on a mac
<steev>
it was so incredibly frustrating trying to remember which key combo i needed to use to copy and paste and when, as well as sometimes it just... not bothering to copy the contents and ending up pasting the older paste
<HdkR>
:D

gabertron: disable mdss in CRD dt and try again. If display is up, then we can figure out from there...
