hey, anyone running a x13s with arch linux? I need some help... my installation is done, but after booting I get this "waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/XXXXXX" then a blank screen
<steev>
ah, i thought he had something in there about the mkcpioinit or whatever it is y'all use
<lcassa>
he has nothing on that, and arch linux installation guide only says mkcpioinit -P, which honestly I have no clue what it does
<abby>
that uses the default preset to generate the initramfs

the blank screen is likely the display timeout issue. but yeah your root cause is missing root device. this can be modules for any of the hardware, filesystems, etc.

anyone running postmarketos on their c630? Works pretty well for me on 6.9. Just haven't tried to get sound working

rigo: there's an issue with the soundwire driver on > 6.7 if you take the soundwire.c file from 6.7 and drop it into 6.9 it'll work
<steev>
i think it's soundwire.c anyway
<rigo>
drivers/soundwire/qcom.c maybe?

<lcassa> "hey, anyone running a x13s..." <- let me know if you fixed it. i had the exact same issue and currently just went back to an older kernel
<Sayatomoki[m]>
my x13s archiso livecd usb can't boot, do i need some bios settings? it just screen flash, i had close security boot
<bamse>
jhovold: so we're sending eachother encrypted messages now as well ;)
<bamse>
Sayatomoki[m]: are you passing "arm64.nopauth" on the command line?
Caterpillar has joined #aarch64-laptops

bamse: where can input command line?
<jhovold>
bamse: heh
<bamse>
Sayatomoki[m]: you should temporarily be able to add that to the command line in your grub/systemd-boot...
<bamse>
Sayatomoki[m]: but i'd also suggest that you double check that your dtb is loaded
<Sayatomoki[m]>
bamse: oh, only windows boot manager currently
<Sayatomoki[m]>
i use windows rufus to make livecd can boot, but menu only “Reboot Into Firmware Interface” option
<steev>
awesome about the touchscreen

why are you learning swedish? lol (I am too but I am housesitting there for a month next week)
<Jasper[m]>
For no reason in particular, I just like languages. It's similar to Dutch in some ways.
<\[m]>
haha yeah I also speak Dutch, it's indeed similar 😄

the only swedish i, or anyone really, needs to know is ostkaka
<konradybcio>
kalle anka!
<bamse>
steev: which in contrast to cheese cake tastes horrible
<bamse>
Jasper[m]: Skit, schaktmaskinen skenar!
<Jasper[m]>
bamse: Ooooooo fun
<Jasper[m]>
In Dutch one of those is "De kat krabt de krullen van de trap"
<steev>
thems fighting words.... or ive never had good cheesecake
<steev>
but nothing beat gramma's ostkaka :(
<bamse>
Jasper[m]: what's a "trap krullen"?
<bamse>
Jasper[m]: just the railing? but curved?
<Jasper[m]>
Well, basically nothing
<Jasper[m]>
But the pronounciation is weird
<bamse>
dutch is interesting, because if i read it fast or don't listen to carefully it's similar enough to other languages that i often can get the gist of it
<Jasper[m]>
Yes, we lend from a lot of languages
<bamse>
but it's probably 15 years since i visited last

Something unfun we do is the use of de/het
<lollaritits[m]>
with german and english knowledge
<lollaritits[m]>
bamse: i find it easy enough
<lollaritits[m]>
Jasper[m]: we have der/die/das
<lollaritits[m]>
technically gendered but a tree would be male according to that
<Jasper[m]>
lollaritits[m]: Well same here, but there is more logic to be found in that grammatical structure
<bamse>
lollaritits[m]: i'm well aware, we spent years in school learning that stuff...can't speak, and can barely understand...but i know my der/die/das ;P
<Jasper[m]>
If you're a foreigner you basically have to keep guessing until you just know a bunch of words
<lollaritits[m]>
i find the use of j funny in dutch
<Jasper[m]>
Jasper[m]: Literally as surface level as it sounds
<lollaritits[m]>
in german is barely used
<Jasper[m]>
lollaritits[m]: Borrowed to or from English
<lollaritits[m]>
Jasper[m]: its enough to read/understand train stuff
<lollaritits[m]>

bamse: I'm sucker for ostkaka as well as cheese cake, and I don't even think I've ever had homemade ostkaka
<jhovold>
is you gramma Swedish, steev?
<steev>
she is, yeah
<steev>
so we always had ostkaka at christmas time
<mynery[m]>
<Sayatomoki[m]> "oh, only windows boot manager..." <- your live system uses grub
<jhovold>
cool, is she from the minnesota area, perhaps?
<jhovold>
steev: ^
<steev>
she was in missouri :) just over the border from iowa
<steev>
dunno about prior
<jhovold>
close enough :) Apparently there's two kinds of ostkaka, I have ancestry in one of the regions, Småland, where they have almonds in their oskaka
<jhovold>
so that's the only one I know, but I love it
<konradybcio>
surely sweden isn't so small that you happen to know all swedish grandmas in minnesota jhovold :D
<steev>
maybe he does ;)
<jhovold>
heh, no, konradybcio, but I happen to know that there were a lot of Swedish immigrants settling in minnesota
<jhovold>
I believe you can still hear it in the accent of people from there
<jhovold>
not everyone of course, but I've me some where I thought I could

anyone know offhand what is needed to get docker running with johan_defconfig kernel?
<JensGlathe[m]>
Looks like some network component is missing, it says nat
<JensGlathe[m]>
6.9.3 has booted up (built with the pop build scripts)
<JensGlathe[m]>
its complaining about scm, pmic-glink and ov5675... anyway. Its up
<steev>
clover[m]: docker includes a fancy lil script you can run (or used to anyway) you can run against your kernel config and it'll tell you what you're missing
<craftyguy>
it seems like jhovold's wip/x1e80100-6.10-rc2 branch also works on the x13s, but wanted to ask here juuuust in case... does it?
<clover[m]>
lcassa, mynery, and anyone else with arch linux arm issues, please try using the latest kernel linux-x13s-6.9.2-1 and see if that solves your issues. i've updated the linux-x13s preset to point to a mkinitcpio config that i am currently using and which currently works for me

<konradybcio>
craftyguy most things (tm) on the x13s work with no additional patches on torvalds
<craftyguy>
nice, I suspected that but don't have the expertise to be able to look at the diff and understand what major features aren't upstreamed yet (if any?)
<steev>
venus, touchscreen
<steev>
i'm assuming venus is still not because waiting on the firmware

because if it's enabled without the firmware, something something something

suddenly power usage goes up up up up
